Can't find the old thread.

How silly the Matt storyline is - like the Rob storyline it is OTT. No-one is as villainous as Matt is being portrayed - they have just made him a stereotype of evil and it is ridiculous. I have never met anyone who encapsulates evil to this degree.

Stop it now you crazy scriptwriters and give as some storylines that reflect real life.

mumofmadboys - spending time with the parents of infants and small children reminds us just how joyful parenting can be. Its those loving foundations that keeps us in there when they morph into Freddie and Lily - poor Elizabeth.

Goodness, I'm just listening to this week's omnibus.

"No wonder she's so upset. How would you feel if you were told you had to BYOB for your daughter's wedding?"

What, that and a massive discount?! I'd be absolutely delighted, Elizabeth, delighted! Kerching!

DoraMarr Sun 12-Aug-18 14:38:51

Correct me please if I’m wrong, but didn’t Rex go home to care for his father because he’d had a stroke? Q

phoenix Sun 12-Aug-18 19:04:46

Or was it a heart attack, DoraMarr?

mcem Sun 12-Aug-18 19:31:17

I'm glad Freddy's been nicked!
As my gran would have said 'Hell mend him!

grumppa Sun 12-Aug-18 23:09:06

Am I alone in thinking The Archers is overloaded wirh sensational plot lines at the moment? I keep thinking of Emperor Josef II's comment about The Marriage of Figaro: "Too many notes, Mozart."

starbird Mon 13-Aug-18 17:02:34

Thank goodness that spoilt, whiney, 18yr old baby Freddy has been found out - I hope it all comes out now, but yes, poor Elizabeth.

End of Sunday evening episode hilarious with Jill and Kate!

grumppa I don’t think the plots are sensational at the moment - all very ordinary day to day events for 2018 (apart from the Llama), not like the tv soaps which I haven’t seen for decades - but maybe that is the difference between town and country.

Where is Lily ? Is she with her married man? But isn’t he on holiday with his wife? When will the sh1t hit the fan? Poor Elizabeth.

Iam64 Mon 13-Aug-18 20:51:32

Grumppa, putting the archers aside for a moment. Don’t diss Mozart! I saw a great tv prog inrptroduced by a composer/conductor whose research led him to conclude Mozart warranted a diagnosis of Turrets Syndrome. The conductor had that diagnosis, which he felt enhanced rather than inhibited his achievements. He followed Mozart’s compositions and highlighted what he believed was progression as Mozart let rip with his twtitches

AyjayF Mon 13-Aug-18 21:57:59

Yes. I'm wondering where Lily is too. Surely Russ would not go off with her.

Luckygirl Mon 13-Aug-18 22:07:15

I think that all this drama is not a recent thing - Elizabeth and her abortion, Jenny pregnant and unmarried (shock, horror in those days!), Grace and the fire etc. Never a dull moment!

merlotgran Mon 13-Aug-18 22:11:38

DH gets very exasperated with it. The Canadian authorities know what's going on as they have first hand testimonies from the escapees so why no international intervention and why no SAS style rescue attempts at key loctions?

I get really wrapped up in it and he's muttering, 'Load of b*****ks' grin

What's the betting the evil Aunt Lydia isn't dead and makes a miraculous recovery at the beginning of the next series.

merlotgran Mon 13-Aug-18 22:12:32

Oh No! Wrong thread. shock

phoenix Mon 13-Aug-18 22:45:57

merlot you had me worried there, thought I was losing the plot! grin

merlotgran Mon 13-Aug-18 23:03:04

Blame my cat, phoenix. She wanted to go out so jumped up on the back of the sofa and started 'playing the piano' on the top of my head while I was typing. grin

Maggiemaybe Mon 13-Aug-18 23:16:18

Thanks for the laugh, merlotgran! I usually listen to the Omnibus with half an ear while reading the Sunday paper. I was worried there for a minute that I was actually taking in even less of the plot than I thought! grin

grumppa Mon 13-Aug-18 23:27:38

I didn't diss Mozart, Iam64. The Emperor did.

starbird Tue 14-Aug-18 11:56:26

Re previous post I meant Jenny and Kate ( Kate and her mother)

merlotgran what programme are you referring to? Sounds better than Archers!

Iam64 Tue 14-Aug-18 21:04:33

Maybe so Grumppa but, you repeated the diss.

Lazigirl Thu 16-Aug-18 20:03:58

Poor Elizabeth, it just needs Lily to get pregnant now to complete the tale of woe. At least we have Jazzer in ill fitting suit to look forward to as 'bridesman' tomorrow.

merlotgran Sat 18-Aug-18 10:05:26

The only interesting thing about Harrison detecting who nicked off with Lynda's llama (he went for the person least likely to) is why he didn't apply the same logic to who ran over Matt Crawford. hmm

Having at last solved a crime, he's now going to keep it a secret. grin

Lazigirl Sat 18-Aug-18 11:56:58

Never liked Susan, but she plays a great character, and she's gone up a notch in my ratings now smile

Iam64 Sat 18-Aug-18 19:37:22

I've been away all week and reading the last few posts has definitely made me want to listen to the Omnibus tomorrow

starbird Sat 18-Aug-18 20:11:36

I usually listen to the omnibus but not being able to get to sleep listened to all this week’s episodes in the early hours. Now know where Lily was but won’t give anything away.

Overall quite a boring week in the end.

merlotgran Sat 18-Aug-18 20:18:00

Judging by some of the comments on another thread about listening to TA I think we should be whispering on here. [shh]
