Can't find the old thread.

How silly the Matt storyline is - like the Rob storyline it is OTT. No-one is as villainous as Matt is being portrayed - they have just made him a stereotype of evil and it is ridiculous. I have never met anyone who encapsulates evil to this degree.

Stop it now you crazy scriptwriters and give as some storylines that reflect real life.

You may be right merlotgran! Ha ha ( can’t get the grin emoji to work)

Lazigirl Sun 19-Aug-18 19:47:38

No lets SHOUT Merlot. As I said out and proud!

Elrel Mon 20-Aug-18 17:50:43

I'm Elrel and I LISTEN TO THE ARCHERS!!!
There, I've admitted it!

Iam64 Mon 20-Aug-18 18:28:31

I'm iam64 and I have listened to the archers since 1968. I've had the occasional lapse but I LOVE THE ARCHERS. Out and Proud.

Elrel Tue 21-Aug-18 20:33:31

I've listened (with gaps) since it began. I've never quite adjusted to 'an every story of farming folk' replacing Dick Barton Special Agent however.

WELL! That's given Elizabeth something to think about!

DoraMarr Fri 24-Aug-18 19:30:56

Hmm, so will Russell’s fulsome praise for Freddie be accepted by the court, since Lily and he are an item?

Lazigirl Fri 24-Aug-18 19:53:30

Elizabeth can't use it now she knows what's what DM.

Alypoole Sat 25-Aug-18 07:07:07

What a cool unruffled mother Elizabeth is! So chilled. She’s found out her son is dealing in drugs, lost her drinks licence, lost wedding bookings and she’s as cool as a cucumber. Wow! Will we see some reaction to the latest news?

Nana3 Sat 25-Aug-18 08:31:20

Lilly has got Elizabeth's full attention now, just as she's always wanted. How long before the Fairbrother affair is brought up I wonder.

merlotgran Sat 25-Aug-18 09:07:13

Wait till the Borchester Echo finds out. shock

AyjayF Sat 25-Aug-18 11:26:57

Flipping heck, Elizabeth. That was a frisbee to the head moment!!

Iam64 Sat 25-Aug-18 12:40:54

Poor Lizzie, maybe she can take a leaf out of Kate's book and run away, or have a real mid life crisis like Shula. (only joking)

Alypoole Sun 26-Aug-18 09:45:48

So glad I’ve found this thread. Since retiring I’ve no-one to discuss The Archers with. Thank you Gransnetsmile

LullyDully Mon 27-Aug-18 08:02:52

My my how broad minded Elizabeth is. Let's hope Freddy doesn't get off lightly and what happened to the carefree intelligent Lily? Surely the DHT is not allowed to sleep with his students in a sixth form college. Come back Nigel I say . Goodness knows why he went up on that roof in the first place.

MrsJamJam Mon 27-Aug-18 08:19:18

Oh dear! I'm off abroad on holiday for two weeks so will miss all the excitement. Please keep this thread updated!wink

Iam64 Mon 27-Aug-18 08:45:10

I haven't heard the episode but friends tell me that Lizzie was calm and even invited russ for a meal with them. I suspect Lizzie is playing the long game here. Inviting unsuitable partners to eat with the family can be helpful in encouraging the smitten one to see their adored one isn't quite as wonderful as they'd thought.

merlotgran Mon 27-Aug-18 09:14:17

Lizzie was backed into a corner over the meal, Iam. It was all Lily's idea.

I think Lily will see the light when she realises Russ has no intentions of telling his wife about her. She's already having doubts.

Hope it's soon.

Alypoole Mon 27-Aug-18 09:19:51

I always listen to the omnibus Iam so yet to hear how Lizzie has reacted, but I’m sure she will be calm and level headed as usual.

Lazigirl Mon 27-Aug-18 09:24:56

Elizabeth isn't stupid (I assume) and she must realise that it is a serious disciplinary offence for Russ even if Lily was 18 when the affair started. He was in a position of power & he exploited her. He will surely be sacked when it all comes out. If she (Eliz) is playing the long game intentionally she must have come to terms with it pretty damn quickly! Funny he has supposedly told his parents.

AyjayF Mon 27-Aug-18 10:52:13

Has Elizabeth realised that Russ is STILL married? Lily was deliberately ambiguous about this.
Feel Usha will set her right about the horrendous teacher/ pupil situation here.

eazybee Mon 27-Aug-18 14:44:00

One can only applaud the scriptwriters for coming up with the unexpected, as in Elizabeth's response to Lily's announcement of her love.
I only listen to The Archers intermittently but am caught up in this story. Is Elizabeth normally this stupid, or is it that all she can think about is her precious Freddie?

Lazigirl Mon 27-Aug-18 15:38:47

I think Elizabeth's sympathetic to Lily because reignites memories of her love affair with the cad Fairbrother which ended in tears. All we need to complete the circle is Lily announcing that she's pregnant. Watch this space. Good storyline.

Just a thought- Helen is having problems with Henry. Much has been made about him spending time on his tablet, playing computer games. BUT, what if Rob has contacted him, and is turning him against Helen?

Scribbles Tue 28-Aug-18 17:55:53

That thought had occurred to me, too Dora!
