I'm beginning to think some scriptwriters are sabotaging Coronation Street.
Although I still enjoy it, I am doing my best to suspend disbelief in many of the storylines. How on earth has Phelan managed to get away with some of his more outrageous plots and escapades? The Kirk v Sally mayoral campaign was truly ridiculous and Mary's son and daughter in law seemed totally unperturbed by the fact that they have foregone the cost of three flights to South Africa.
I understand that viewers have shorter attention spans than in the past and demand more "action" but do they really require a succession of dramatic storylines that bear no resemblance whatsoever to real life?
I enjoy a gripping plot as much as the next person but, really, it's getting beyond a joke.
