Does anyone know what happened to Phelan’s wife? Have I missed something? - or will she turn up under the patio?

Charleygirl Sun 29-Oct-17 17:44:38

BlueBelle I thought the same- she definitely looks and sounds different.

I also cannot understand what the youngsters are saying so every time I watch it I have sub titles on.

I wish Phelan would put a gun to his own head, he would be doing us a favour.

I also think it wrong of ITV to sack Todd, they have acted as judge and jury without allowing the police to investigate.

I'm giving it a miss, its too far fetched now.I used to look forward to it ,not now though.Someone tell me when the Phelan nonsense ends and I might give it another chance

BlueBelle Sun 29-Oct-17 17:13:43

I agree the Mary/ son and daughter in law story was really ridiculous and Sally mayoral campaign is totally daft so much of it now is... in fact I often miss programmes and don’t bother catching up
Has Sally s youngest daughter the gay one change actresses lately she looks and sounds different
I m really starting to go off it to be honest

I'm beginning to think some scriptwriters are sabotaging Coronation Street.

Although I still enjoy it, I am doing my best to suspend disbelief in many of the storylines. How on earth has Phelan managed to get away with some of his more outrageous plots and escapades? The Kirk v Sally mayoral campaign was truly ridiculous and Mary's son and daughter in law seemed totally unperturbed by the fact that they have foregone the cost of three flights to South Africa.

I understand that viewers have shorter attention spans than in the past and demand more "action" but do they really require a succession of dramatic storylines that bear no resemblance whatsoever to real life?

I enjoy a gripping plot as much as the next person but, really, it's getting beyond a joke.

Yes it's long past time for Phelan to get his just deserts. It's been a nice change from love triangles though.
Surely the Sally VS Kirk election will have some lighter moments. Dev trying to fix up Steve has some potential too.

I'm just about sticking with corrie despite the ghastly Pat Phelan storyline. I hope its about to finish soon as I can't bear any more of it. I still like some of the more humorous characters

BlueBelle Sun 29-Oct-17 15:11:22

I must be wrong then I ve got three grandkids that are EE watchers. and two Corrie watchers when they are in
I think Todd is something to do with sexual advances to a woman in a night club It’s only just hit the headlines

Jane10 Sun 29-Oct-17 15:09:57

Oh no. Poor Eileen. She's not a lucky woman is she.

tanith Sun 29-Oct-17 15:09:43

Apparently he's been accused of hitting someone in a night club and ITV have just sacked him although he says he's innocent.
I think you are right Christinefrance, youngsters like Enders and as you say Hollyoaks I don't any who watch Corrie.

Christinefrance Sun 29-Oct-17 15:05:48

I hadn't heard about Todd being sacked, what happened ? Eileen is not having a lot of luck with her sons and husband.
I agree the story lines have become quite dark in Corrie lately as well as far fetched, I don't think many younger people watch it either tanith if they do watch soaps its more likely to be Hollyoaks or one of the Australian ones.

BlueBelle Sun 29-Oct-17 14:08:02

I watch Corrie and I do think some youngsters watch both Corrie and EE It has become violent lately with two men being shot dead, point blank and close up last week, after holding one of them captive in a cellar for months Shakled and ill There has also been scenes of grooming and fairly graphics sex party scenes and I personally think it’s a become dodgy for 7 30 when quite young kids could be watching

Eileen’s not only sonless now but could be husbandless soon (hopefully)

Greenfinch Sun 29-Oct-17 13:44:44

And what about poor Billy and Summer ?

tanith Sun 29-Oct-17 13:37:29

I just noticed the actor who plays Todd Grimshaw has been sacked that leaves poor Eileen sonless, wonder how they're going to explain that.

tanith Sun 29-Oct-17 13:34:39

It's just another very far fetched plot about kidnapping and murder, it is rather dark if kids are watching. To be honest I don't think many youngsters would watch Corrie only us old'uns grin

vampirequeen Sun 29-Oct-17 13:23:18

Can someone please tell me what is happening in Coronation Street? I don't watch it but I overheard a conversation today where a lady said she won't watch it anymore and another said that it shouldn't be on before the watershed. They felt that the content was inappropriate for children and 'no wonder they grow up knowing too much too soon'.

My mind has gone into overdrive as to what could be happening. The last time I watched Coronation Street, Gail was married to the man who tried to kill the entire family by driving into the canal so you can see I'm totally out of touch with it grin
