Choosing the week’s viewing

I go through the TV magazine on a Saturday and record what I fancy on the Sky planner. I do sometimes delete things if I have t had time to watch them. I'm also watching The Crown on Netflix but see that on my daughters tele as we watch it together. That is my absolute favourite thing at the moment it's brilliant

We buy the Radio Times and each go through it, circling things of interest. Then I will record programs which overlap or are on late. When there is nothing good on regular TV we always have something recorded to watch.

The trouble with thinking, "Oh, I'll catch that later on iPlayer" is that I then forget what it was I wanted to catch. My new technique is to link it with my diary: I have a week-to-view diary tbat I write up as a daily journal. I now write on a little post-it the details of anything coming uwo in the week ahead and stick it on the appropriate day. If I miss it, I can move to post-it forward until I remember to watch it. It should also (in theory) work for a series, although once I'm enjoying a series I will usually remember it, or set the PVR to recored the whole series.

I have a couple of "must sees" at the moment, The French detective series "Spiral" Saturday, 9pm BBc 4, I usually rewatch a bit of it during the week, because I find it hard to stay awake for the whole 2 hours. The other series that's hooked me in is "McMaffia". I believe a new wildlife series on big cats is coming our way this week, I adore cats per se so will be looking out for that. My son installed Netflix for us so we have yet to start on series 2 of "The Crown" looking forward to that. We don't record BBC programmes any more because it's so easy to cast them. Yes don't always get round to watching films that we do record. We also record some things for our grandchildren, granddaughter likes the Nativity films and they both came over yesterday and watched the new "Highway Rat" although grandson, aged 3, is completely hooked on "Stickman" recorded a couple of years ago, and kept asking for that instead.

We have Virgin and our box learns our habits and recommends stuff we might like. It either records or streams.
Some things are only on iplayer for a limited time, so recording is still useful.
I get a lot of recommendations and reminders from this forum.
DH is a flicker and just browses to find something when he wants to watch. I prefer to plan but only use online tv guides.

I'm surprised how many people still record programs to watch. Can't remember the last time we recorded anything we just use the catch up or Netflix although I realise not everyone has Netflix.

I look through the weeks programmes on a Saturday and set them to record, I sometimes have to juggle programmes which are on different channels at the same time.

I am another who has to set it up as I see it advertised or I forget it, especially if it is not on the mainstream channels. Then the only problem is finding the opportunity to watch what you’ve taped. I tend to hang on to some recordings just because it is unlikely that they will ever be repeated, and sadly we lost a lot of ‘gems’, as well as stuff we hadn’t had the opportunity to watch, when our Freesat box packed up just before Christmas.

Read the TV pages on a Saturday and mark programmes I think would be interesting, DH organises recordings and then we watch at our convenience. Quite a lot gets deleted after several minutes watching but better than sitting down to watch live.

If something is advertised that we fancy we set it to record then watch it ( or delete it if we don't like it) at our leisure.

We have to set it up as we see it or we would forget it !

I'm one of those nerdy types who will circle something I fancy watching... and then throw the TV guide out with the recycling!

OH looks through the films but for myself I either watch a regular favourite or look through what's on if I'm not otherwise occupied.

I usually see a trailer for something that looks really good, and think "I must watch that!". Then I forget what is was, what channel it was on, and on what day.
