I thought a new start might be appropriate.

The whole Alice thing is something they SWs have been building up to. Will she leave her job? I would not have thought that Brian was in a position to offer anyone a job, even family, with prison hanging over his head.

Kate's outrage at Jennifer and Brian for being dishonest had me confused. She's hardly been a model parent herself and I really wish that Jennifer hadn't apologised to her for saying so.

merlotgran Fri 30-Mar-18 23:29:49

I felt sorry for Brian tonight. He's not perfect and Jenny's had a lot to put up with over the years but he's always been a 'provider.' Kate and Alice's cottages, the land for Spiritual Home etc.

Ruth must be loving all the power she's wielding which is a bit rich considering her own poor management at Brookfield resulting in the IBR crisis.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 30-Mar-18 23:12:06

My "Oh, but she can" was a response to Brian's words to Jenny at the end of tonight's episode by the way.

I cannot imagine how Ed will deal with Will's revelation. One of those things that won't be talked about perhaps and then, in years to come, it may pop up again.

Nelliemoser Fri 30-Mar-18 22:54:24

Will and Edd have been consistant. ( I remember when they were born. )
Their style of farming and that of Dad Eddie was really quite chaotic and slap dash over the years. Those two have become lot more responsible than they ever were.
One of the older generation of Grundys ? Alf has been in prison.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 30-Mar-18 19:15:46

Oh, but she can.

merlotgran Thu 29-Mar-18 21:09:52

Lynda was magnificent tonight.

Hilarious grin

I can't guess grannygrandby. I looked up what others were saying and one said it was so she had a least one good storyline (harsh), another thought it was so the ghost of Matt could return. Someone complained that it wasn't realistic - no long wait on a trolley. I stopped when someone mentioned Cathy Perks and lost me completely although I was left wondering what has happened to her and Jamie.

They don't actually kill people off all that often unless the actor dies - not the case here - so they are trying to move, change or unravel something I feel. But what?confused

grannygranby Sun 25-Mar-18 20:05:32

Why do you think Nic was written out?

GracesGranMK2 Sun 25-Mar-18 19:08:31

Will and Ed have had very strong story lines in the past and their characters have and are being built - like the older characters - over the years. Emma has grown by being married to Ed rather than Will which reflects on the characters of both of them. I can imagine her growing into one of the strong women of their family - she has two different but equally strong examples in Susan and Clarrie.

Nannarose Sun 25-Mar-18 18:18:30

I have never liked Will either. The Grundy family don't seem to me to be consistent. I 'get' Joe, Eddy, & Clarrie, but Will & Ed seem to have just been written that way b/c the SWs wanted a storyline, and now it's stuck! Clarrie seems to cope with everything thrown at her except those boys.
The Carters seem far more consistent: Chris easy going, very forgiving to a difficult partner, just like his dad; Emma trying to better herself after a disastrous mistake, just like her mum. And in fact, Emma is coming into her own, I think her now one of the better characters.
Nic brought out the best in Will, and I can see him having a bad time and being pretty horrible to everyone!

shysal Fri 23-Mar-18 08:59:58

I agree with Will being horrible, he has been for many years. He is quick tempered, self centred and a bully.

GracesGranMK2 Thu 22-Mar-18 19:41:50

I must admit I haven't seen Will as 'horrible but I do think he would come into my category of "difficult to know". He is so pessimistic about life. People are of course; in fact Joe is, but there is always a bit of humour about him.

merlotgran Thu 22-Mar-18 15:13:14

I think the SWs have a lot of scope with Will's character now. He's had the wind taken out of his sails and sounded stunned during the funeral. I wonder how he will react to Alice's behaviour?

I've never liked him but it will be interesting to see how he copes with life without Nic and the problems at Home Farm which could affect his job.

maryeliza54 Thu 22-Mar-18 14:00:39

And the opposite of horrible isn’t perfect - I know lots of people who are neither

maryeliza54 Thu 22-Mar-18 13:59:41

When I say years I mean well before it came out about Ed and Emma

maryeliza54 Thu 22-Mar-18 13:58:57

He’s been horrible for years and was emotionally abusive towards Nic

MawBroon Thu 22-Mar-18 13:36:53

What makes you say Will is horrible?
Nobody is perfect and the animus with Ed is perfectly understandable.
Now as a young father grieving and in shock, we should not be too quick to judge.

maryeliza54 Thu 22-Mar-18 09:56:18

Wills is truly horrible and as I have now assumed the online mantle of Jake and Mia’s dgm I need to find an online forum that will give me some advice on the rights of grandparents - any suggestions

GracesGranMK2 Thu 22-Mar-18 09:50:23

A builder in our nearby town got planning permission for a small housing development with the condition that there were a percentage of "affordable" houses. He arranged to do the "affordable" ones elsewhere in the town - a much cheaper area. I always felt this did not help with the 'mix' of housing but I could see Justin doing that and building the affordable ones in Borchester or even Felpersham. I just can't see this going well for Ed and Emma although I hope it does.

mcem Thu 22-Mar-18 09:50:00

Thank you for the Ed/Will references.
Wikipedia has just filled in a few gaping holes!

merlotgran Thu 22-Mar-18 09:44:33

The SWs like to write out children until after their GCSEs. Ben, for example and Freddy and Lily were silent for years. I expect Mia and Jake will go back to their father and Clarrie will help bring up Poppy.

I suppose it's all going to hinge on what happens to Home Farm.

GracesGranMK2 Thu 22-Mar-18 09:44:08

I thought that is what might happen maryeliza. In a way I would worry if I was the grandmother or father as Wills is understandably very wrapped in Poppy.

maryeliza54 Thu 22-Mar-18 09:40:54

If I were the children’s grandmother, I would want them back with our side if the family ( with regular visits to the Grundy side of course). There’s a good story line in that isn’t there?

maryeliza54 Thu 22-Mar-18 09:38:24

Could Justin’s development be eligible for the Help to Buy scheme? I’ve often thought about starting an Archers Advice Thread as the RL issues of benefit entitlements etc seems to pass the village by, I do wonder who will help Will with probate and if Nic had a will ( I guess not) also who helps Will with his tax affairs given he is a landlord.
