I always preferred Dr Enys to Poldark - but you're right, gulligranny, he is becoming rather too good!

Perhaps there is something appealing about the 'bad boy' ie George - do we want to reform him perhaps (then he might not be so appealing!) grin

I think Jack Farthing's portrayal of George Warleggan has been quite brilliant; conveying a wealth of emotion by just the raising of an eyebrow or the tightening of the mouth. I just wanted him to realise what he had - a beautiful wife, lovely home, children, wealth - and simply be happy, but then I suppose there wouldn't be a story!

I did find myself getting a teensy bit fed up with the sainted Dr. Enys, though.

I always liked George best. He's much more interesting. His devious uncle is good too.
Glad to hear there's to be a new series but God knows what can be included this time. There's been mine trouble, money trouble, war, duel, court cases, tortured romances - what next?!

The doctor has spotted the vial so somehow that will be followed up. Is this all in the books? Oh dear, I might have to start reading them.

Yes, I'm inclined to agree with you Blinko. Also, he'll likely find some way of blaming Ross for her death and then his rage against him will truly know no bounds.

Blinko Tue 31-Jul-18 08:47:44

I think now that Elizabeth is no longer there to temper his more vicious urges, George will sink to even lower tricks to achieve his ends.

travelsafar Tue 31-Jul-18 06:59:04

Do you think now Elizabeth has gone that George will truely accept Valentine as his son or will he still believe he is Ross's child?

Bathsheba Mon 30-Jul-18 23:31:41

I really surprised myself in feeling a jolt of sympathy for George when Elizabeth died. Yes he was after power, status, money, the house etc. etc., but it seems his love for her was actually quite genuine

Can't wait for the next series now!

POGS Mon 30-Jul-18 23:13:34

This is a tad shallow comment but I am finding Poldark less good looking as the series has progressed.

Jalima1108 Mon 30-Jul-18 19:55:02

Just reading that he films a lot in Bristol and Bath, must watch out for him
grin
I prefer him to Poldark

pollyperkins Mon 30-Jul-18 18:21:13

I think insecure ould be a better word than sensitive. And always jealous/suspicious of Ross.

pollyperkins Mon 30-Jul-18 17:45:26

Yes the portrayel of Warleggin was brilliant, I agree. That little lift of the chin.... he came over as someone with an inferiority complex, desperately sensitive instead of just a brute. Though he was that too of course. I found him fascinating.

Jalima1108 Mon 30-Jul-18 17:32:53

It's hard to believe that he is so nice in RL (apparently)

knickas63 Mon 30-Jul-18 16:56:22

I was expecting it - because I have read the books and I can remember the first series. Still sad though. I have to say, Jack Farthing's Warleggen was brilliant! He played it so well!

Jalima1108 Mon 30-Jul-18 12:02:53

I think the potion contained rye fungus (ergot) which produces muscle spasms amonst other symptoms and then could cause gangrene.

I quite liked poor Elizabeth, coping with her constrained life through a haze of laudanum.

Ross needs a kick up the proverbial.

merlotgran Mon 30-Jul-18 10:29:30

Ross seemed to have forgotten that it was all his idea for Elizabeth to find a way of convincing George she could only carry to eight months. hmm

Be careful what you wish for. grin

Brunette10 Mon 30-Jul-18 10:15:49

Shocked with Elizabeth's departure. Brilliant acting by all. So looking forward to next series.

pollyperkins Mon 30-Jul-18 09:18:16

I didn't think morwenna knew how to smile! She's been tragic for so long.

Blinko Mon 30-Jul-18 09:00:54

Thank the lord Drake has at last stopped all that mooning about over Morwenna. Let's hope she gets her child back in the next series. Roll on Autumn...

GrandmaMoira Mon 30-Jul-18 08:49:20

That was a brilliant ending, though Elizabeth's death was sanitised compared with the book.
Merlot - you did lighten the mood by making me laugh about Valentine - I shall always think of him as Damien now!

Teetime Mon 30-Jul-18 08:38:25

Thank heaven that's over! Please can we something light on a Sunday evening?

Greyduster Mon 30-Jul-18 07:36:29

DH and I had a wager on which character would be bumped off. I still haven’t got my 50p!

Alima Mon 30-Jul-18 07:01:04

Anyone know what’s on next week instead of this. (It’s been a long eight weeks).

travelsafar Mon 30-Jul-18 06:36:27

Whatever was in the potion Elizabeth drank, seems to me it was potent as the nerve agent used over here recently!!!!shock

kittylester Mon 30-Jul-18 06:17:03

I don't remember Morwenna leaving without her son either in the book ir in the previous version - did she?

Does anyone read Deborah Ross in the Sunday Times TV bit? Her reviews of Poldark always make me laugh.
