Do you have a favourite Carry On Film?

Mine is probably Carry On Screaming. Love Charles Hawtrey as Dan Dan the Lavatory Man, Kenneth Williams as Dr Watt, Flannella Fielding as the vamp, Joan Sims as the nagging wife, Jim Dale and Angela whatshername as the juvenile leads, and Harry H Corbett is brilliant as the detective in the role Sid James would normally have had, plus Peter Butterworth great as the sidekick and Bernard Breslaw as the butler.

Least favourite Carry On film is Carry On England which is the only carry on film I don’t really enjoy watching as hardly any of the regular cast where in it and the new cast were in it.

yes, Carry On Screaming is a good one grin but my favourite one is Carry On Cleo.

they all look to be having such a good time, but some of the cast were depressed\had a chaotic personal life\or looked down on what they were doing, particularly Kenneth Williams [who always thought he should be doing Shakespeare.]

in spite of that, they were very professional in all the films, I recently watched both Carry On Sergeant [the first one] and Carry On Constable, another early one, both very funny and grandson laughed at them both.

My favourite is Carry on up the Khyber. Argh, those devils in skirts.?? Kenneth Williams as the Khasi of Khalabar, Bernard Breslaw as Bungit Din and Sid James as Sir Sidney Rough-Diamond.
A close second is Carry on Teacher (this one is black and white). Ted Ray as the headmaster.

I like them all but preferably the ones without Barbara Windsor- love Carry on Screaming.

Carry on Screaming and Carry on Camping always make me giggle.

In fact I can giggle at most of them, the one were Sid James was trying to get contraceptive pills from the hospital (was it Carry on Nurse?)

I know they are politically incorrect, but for these films I can make an exception!!

OH probably knows every word of every film he’s watched them so many times. Carry on up the Kyber is I think one of his favourites.

I'm a huge fan of carry on films. grin
Carry on at your convenience is one of my favourites, along with abroad, and camping.

Carry on up the Khyber, without a doubt! I loved the scene where they’re all dining while all hell is breaking loose covering them with plaster dust.

Carry on Camping. I laugh every time I see that scene where Barbara Windsor's bra flies off.

I’m the odd one out then. Can stand to watch any of them.

I've read lots of biographies of the Carry On stars and some of them seem to have had very sad lives, especially Joan Sims and Charles Hawtrey who were both alcoholics. Joan Sims and Charles Hawtrey are two of my favourites in the films.

Kenneth Williams was a very complex character, too.
He is my favourite.
I watched a programme about Hattie Jacques a few months ago, and her love life was interesting.

Most memorable for me was Carry On Cleo. There were some brilliant lines: Infamy, infamy, they've all got it in-for-me (Kenneth Williams as J.Caesar). And some of the names, someone was called EkonomikCrises and someone else was Sossarges. Daft, I know.

lemongrove Sat 08-Sept-18 14:14:05

Blinko yes, it has some great lines Sid says of Sossarges [played by Bresslaw] 'I don't like sossarges, boiled or fried!'

Kenneth Connor's character tries to eat a banana for the first time and says it's horrible, is told to peel it, so peels it, chucks away the banana and eats the skin saying 'much better' grin

lemongrove Sat 08-Sept-18 14:16:59

Kenneth Connor is called Hengis Pod [ and his lovely wife, Senna.]

Blinko Sat 08-Sept-18 16:28:40

Ah yes, and wasn't it Jim Dale as Horsa?
