No Offence

Well I'll cross that off my 'things I would like to watch but will probably forget to'
list, then.
I can't be bothered with things that are too complicated these days.

I notice with all sorts of productions that diction is often not good. It isn't that I have a hearing problem - my hearing was tested only a month ago.

Also, I notice that scenes are often shot in the dark and you can't see what is happening properly. I have had my eyes tested recently and nothing was wrong.

I think it is supposed to make things more realistic perhaps but, like you, I sometimes find it confusing.

A lot are dark (in lighting I mean) and make it even harder to follow Which onein particular are you meaning overthehill

They're trying to copy scandinavian noir but it doesnt quite work as well when you're shooting all your half lit scenes in alleyways in Farnborough rather than in Stockholm's underbelly......
That just makes it look dimly lit and dull rather than artsy and noir

Bluebell the clue is in the title. Having said that it isn't the only one. It appears to be a trend where everyone dashes around like crazy and not content with having one case to solve they like to bring other things to confuse (for me anyway) the situation.

We got lost and we are not sure what is going on. However I do enjoy the characters and the humour.

Same here, LullyDully. This is the only series that I need the subtitles for. The banter comes thick and fast and it’s easy to miss something. It’s well worth the effort though and is probably my favourite programme now that Bodyguard’s finished.

I love Joanna Scanlan the actor who plays the inspector, and the humour in it, and at least when we see someone in underwear (or less) it's a more realistic portrayal of what many women of her age look like - not the usual "ideal" body. I agree that it's sometimes hard to follow, but hey it's fun.

I love this series. The acting is great, all the characters are slightly flawed but they get through. And it's funny as well (although sometimes the humour is very dark)

I enjoy it too - though I've no idea what it's about!!

The series with the female assassin I find quite scary.

Must admit we have been watching No Offence, series 1 and 2 on catch-up, but yes, they drop names into the plot and I am left wondering who they talking about, who the character is and how he/she fits into the storyline. Things become clearer later but the stories are padded out with sub plots and so many different characters who may or may not be connected in some way that you need a spread sheet to work out what's going on and why.

It would also help if they enunciated, just a bit. I miss words and shouted instructions and even mumbled conversations which means we get even more confused. OH likes detective (gory) stuff and even he has trouble working out the significance of some of the going-on. Confused dot com.

And oh yes, that Killing Eve drama is quite chilling but the vein of humour running through it and the clarity of characters and dialogue makes it quite addictive. I had to cover my eyes for a few bits, knowing the next victim was about to be killed by the psychopathic strange one! Very entertaining in many ways and very different, with a story that is fairly easy to follow. Not for the faint-hearted though!

Joanna Scanlon is a great actress and very convincing in that she comes across as being flawed, compassionate, authoritative, bright, no-nonsense sensible and has a body which she does her very best with in terms of shoes and glam clothing - and succeeds. {grin] Many female leads with power have become almost stereotypical - cold, organised, rather dour, power-suited, gym-bunnies. She plays a very believable and likeable character.
