Dr. Who

not Dr Who fan but I have alot of whovian friends and they are all enthusistic about her and the filming is apparently exceptional .I might give it a look given these reviews .
I dont have a problem with a female Doctor ,because he'she is supposed to change ,I would have issues with James Bond being a woman though as the character is as Fleming intended and we shouldn't mess with that .I think .

I really like Jodie Whittaker as an actress, but haven't watched Dr Who for years, it's not really my thing. I wish her every success though.

We watched and enjoyed it. I was worried that her voice would grate as I found that in Broadchurch but in fact I think she did well.Haven’t watched Dr Who since Peter Capaldi took over as we really couldn’t take to his interpretation, though had been commited Who watchers until then.

Although not a recent Dr Who fan I watched it and really enjoyed it. I like Jodie Whittaker as an actress and I think she brought some freshness to the role. I'm glad to have found something I can look forward to watching.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, looking forward to watching the rest of the series.

Have always watched Dr Who, have enjoyed the new incarnations, Peter Capaldi being my least favourite. Wish they would bring back Captain Jack Harkness.

I haven’t watched Dr Who for years and don’t really know why we did this time, but I didn’t know that it was located in my home city and was quite surprised to find that one of the locations was the water tower quite close to where we used to live. When it was first opened - I was about sixteen at the time - the public could go to the top to see the view over the city and out into the Peak District. We never saw any aliens though!

I tried to watch this but just couldnt get into it. I Loved DrWho as a child, the darlicks would terrify me even though i was about 13 at the time!!! I remember the first episode vaguely with William Hartnell coming out of the police box with the young girl who was his grand daughter.

Still in love with Matt Smith Dr. Couldn’t be doing with Peter Capaldi but Jodie brought something fresh and new ( don’t know what that is though) just like Matt Smith did. Exciting

I have not watched Dr Who for years! My DDs were not fans so after my own childhood interest waned...

However I have a pal who is incensed, as a retired English teacher, because she heard the new Dr Who said 'Would of' rather than 'Would've or Would have'

Anyone else notice this 'pedant's nightmare'?

Quite enjoyed it. Am a great fan and can see that we will be getting some major changes in this series. Will be watching with interest. They packed a lot into this episode and looking forward to some new aliens appearing.
Was a great Tom Baker fan.

I've been a Dr Who fan since the very first episode. My Dad didn't think it would be suitable so he switched off the TV. There was a howl of protest from my sisters and I so he put it on again.I
I thought Jodie Whittaker did a great job as the new Dr. She's a breath of fresh air.

I haven’t watched any for years, I did briefly watch Peter Capaldi ( since he is such a good actor) but found him very wrong and off putting in his role as the Doctor.
Watched the first episode last night with Jodie as the Doctor and thought she was very good.
My only thought is that it’s very horrible for children ( under 12) and you can bet there would be lots watching it.

I too felt it was a bit horrid...all those teeth.....but then I remembered how I REALLY used to watch it from behind a cushion or even the sofa. Children do enjoy that bit of fear....and the conquering of it, we just have to hope the programme makers get the balance right.

The only time I felt I could not watch a recent story line was the one in Torchwood where nobody died no matter what was wrong with them....as an older person who has seen people suffer through illnesses that storyline was my idea of hell on earth and not something I wanted to think about let alone watch.

I watched it from the beginning.
Really got addicted with Christopher Ecclestone and then with David Tennant.
Once Matt Smith took over I lost interest as the stories were so convoluted, I couldn't follow it
Never bothered with Peter Capaldi but loved it on Sunday and look forward to following it again.

I enjoyed the new Dr Who, but haven't yet heard the verdict from the younger generations of the family. My 10-year-old GS (a budding MCP) swore that he would never watch it if the Dr was a woman. I am almost afraid to ask!

HildaW I agree with you on the Torchwood story line, I found that very disturbing, it was screened at 9pm after the watershed.

Curiosity made me watch after many years as a non-fan. Enjoyed it more than I expected and will watch again (despite the fact that I did notice the "would of" and it did grate!

I used to enjoy Torchwood - but could only watch it by recording it and viewing in the mornings. Found it too disturbing for late night viewing.
I am liking the fresh take on Dr Who. The single episode stories and an emphasis on strong females. Makes a change from the time when the only females in this were Companions who could scream loudly and often.

Watched the latest episode last night. Thought it was very interesting to cover the story of Rosa Parks. A bit more educational for the younger viewers rather than wholly about aliens.
