I only started watching it this series. Any fans of Giles and Mary here ?

Mapleleaf Mon 15-Oct-18 12:12:25

Yes, I am, Annie. I think they are so funny.

Jane10 Mon 15-Oct-18 12:19:59

Yup. Me. Love them. Can only speculate how they ever got together.

Jane43 Mon 15-Oct-18 12:42:20

Jane10, they met when they were both 21. Giles was at art school and Mary was a model.

I read part of their diaries they wrote for their book, hilarious, Will buy younger daughter the book and will get it for me on kindle today.

I just love them.

Annie I think they are great together even though his sence of humour is questionable sometimes I would find it very hard to live with him though.
Mary reminds me of Marianne Faithful (cira 1960s)

nanaK54 Mon 15-Oct-18 13:54:01

Yes, I really like Giles and Mary or 'the Nuttys' as I think of them! grin

Auntieflo Mon 15-Oct-18 14:56:36

I like Mary and Giles, and lots of the others, but some of the newer ones hardly say a thing, just one or two words. Maybe they will get better the longer they are on.

KatyK Mon 15-Oct-18 15:33:37

I love Giles and Mary. I used to love Leon and June too.

KatyK Mon 15-Oct-18 15:35:31

Yes glamma It's just clicked with me who Mary reminds me of. Of course, Marianne Faithful.

Jane43 Wed 24-Oct-18 14:15:36

I hope they give an update on June some time. I liked her and Leon too and they obviously adored each other.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 24-Oct-18 14:25:55

June is on twitter using the @LeonAndJune, miss them on goggle box, love Giles and Mary.

KatyK Wed 24-Oct-18 14:45:22

June's been on TV a bit lately. She's written a book about her life.

Jane43 Thu 25-Oct-18 20:06:39

Thank you I will have to find June on Twitter.

I love Giles and Mary, and most of the others too. But my absolute favourites are Lee and Jenny on the caravan site. They always make me laugh out loud. The ones I don't much like are the young brother and sister, they rarely say anything nice or even funny - just very crude and sarcastic.

Have had a 2 month break from watching tv but recently tuned in to Goggle box. I love Giles and Mary. I have a book by Mary "how the queen can make you happy". It is a lovely light read written as if everyone could make choices the same as the queen! I also like Lee and Jenny, and the Welsh couple. The concept of Goggle box is very simple and I did not think it would take off but I love it.

I love Giles and Mary, and the Siddiquis. I agree with Willow10 about the brother and sister duo, they can be very mean. I also think the Michael family have perhaps had their day - their reactions are very predictable.

Grandma2213 Fri 26-Oct-18 02:16:34

Gogglebox is one of my favourite programmes. I love the affection that is so obvious between Giles and Mary and the Welsh couple Dave and Shirley, despite their bickering. The friendship between Lee and Jenny is one we would all wish to have. The Siddiquis also seem such a close family and very witty. Ellie and Izzie are so funny and down to earth and as for Mary and Marina, I'll bet they have had an interesting past! RIP Leon, he was such a sensitive soul under his bluff exterior and how he and June clearly loved each other. envy

I bought Giles and Mary’s book, so enjoyable

TerriBull Fri 26-Oct-18 09:36:14

I really only like Giles and Mary, The Siddiquis, Lee and Jenny and the Welsh couple Dave and Shirley and sometimes the male hairdresser in Brighton, can't remember his name, but feel he tries too hard to be funny, and misses the mark sometimes, also not so good now he has his mother on the sofa with him, he was very amusing with his ex partner. Quite like the family with the Indian dad and English mum, also can't remember their names and The Tappers, haven't seem them for a while though. I do miss Leon and June, so sorry when he died, they were my favourites now "The Nutties" are. Glad the female vicar is no longer in it, she really got on my nerves as did Scarlett Moffett, but thought her parents came across well when they were allowed to get a word in that is.

I still like and watch Googglebox but the cast are not a patch on the those who were on it when it first started .

No matter how hard it tries they haven't produced another Stephen and Dom or The Moffats with Scarlet , Sandra and Sandy or George Bilby who genuinely made me laugh with their wit and sense of fun.

Bikerhiker Mon 29-Oct-18 14:31:40

Caught up on Goggle box now. I thought it was funny when John and Beryl were watching Vegan week Bake-off. John said something along the lines of vegan cakes being made with 'not proper ingredients'!
Annie I have bought the book by Giles and Mary. Hoping for a light read!
Anyone else read it?

merlotgran Mon 29-Oct-18 14:39:51

I'm reading it at the moment, Bikerhiker and really enjoying it. Lovely 'off the wall' humour.
