Did anyone else watch the program about our future King the other night. I found it very entertaining and loved his story about the butcher and the black pudding. I felt he came across as a very nice person who is kind and thoughtful and his wife and sons, clearly love him very much.

Having read all the differing views on this thread I just thought I would like to add my own. I am a big fan of our Royals, they are part of the history and rich heritage of our wonderful country. I am glad that Charles married Diana as without that marriage there would not have been our lovely princes. I'm more than glad that he has now married the love of his life Camilla, it's great to see him so happy and content with his lot. I am sure he will make a great king when his time comes as will William when it is his turn. But for now long live Queen Elizabeth, she does a grand job and her stamina during what must be very tiring engagements amazes me.

Lancslass1 Sun 11-Nov-18 18:17:56

That should be I have not read......

Lancslass1 Sun 11-Nov-18 18:16:50

I have read nor want to read that particular tape .I only read a few lines just now before I realised that Prince Charles would never have said "he might of" instead of "he might have".
I was hoping that it might have been the Railway station clip you had Anniebach and then I could have watched it again and apologised if I was incorrect in what I said.

Blinko Sun 11-Nov-18 18:14:24

Is this thread actually going anywhere...?

Sparklefizz Sun 11-Nov-18 18:10:42

You are nitpicking Annie.
As MissA says, reading the whole text through, it doesn't sound a lot better. It's more like something one can imagine Kenneth Williams saying to Barbara Windsor in a Carry on film.

^Charles: Oh Stop! I want to feel my way along you, all over you and up and
down you and in and out...

Camilla: Oh!

Charles: Particularly in and out!

Camilla: Oh. that's just what I need at the moment.^

I mean, honestly!

Anniebach Sun 11-Nov-18 18:10:03

What matters is the untruth keeps being repeated. I think it awful that it was made public, just as was Diana’s and James Gilbey’s Squidgy tape

MissAdventure Sun 11-Nov-18 18:04:55

shock that doesn't sound a whole lot better, to be honest.
Still, it was a private conversation and should have stayed as such.

And I rest my case

Lancslass1 Sun 11-Nov-18 18:01:53

Sorry re my previous message I was referring to the meeting on the railway station where the Queen shook hands with whoever was meeting her before giving her small child a hug.
As I said earlier ,the Queen Mother should have taken him first onto the train to see his mother briefly before the Queen left it.

Anniebach Sun 11-Nov-18 18:01:10

I say it because it is true , listen to it ,

he did say ‘God forbid coming back as a tampon, just my luck.

My luck to be chucked down the lavatory and go on and on forever, swirling around at the top , never going down

Lancslass1 Sun 11-Nov-18 17:53:50

Anniebach I saw the episode recently again on the TV .
I need say no more.
I rest my case.

Sparklefizz Sun 11-Nov-18 17:52:46

I have just re-read the transcript and can attach a link to it here Annie if you like, so don't accuse me of repeating an untruth.

Sparklefizz Sun 11-Nov-18 17:46:59

I don't know why you say that Annie because the transcript of the phone conversation is available online.

Anniebach Sun 11-Nov-18 17:42:07

Not again, he did not say he wished he was a tampon , why do people keep repeating this untruth

Sparklefizz Sun 11-Nov-18 17:39:03

Does anyone remember "Tampon-gate" when his phone conversation with Camilla was recorded and released, and he said he wished he was a tampon and could always stay inside Camilla....... ?

Anniebach Sun 11-Nov-18 16:49:07

GoneGirl, he wasn’t use to cameras unlike poor William and Harry , now William protects his children from the press, thank heaven

MargaretX said "I menitoned that he came to Germany to see his second cousin who is an organic farmer. Our area is famous for its pink and black old race pig. one that can't live without roaming around. He was there picking the piglets up, tramping through the mud- he definitely must be a farmer "

So he picked up a few small animals and walked through some mud - something he has probably done numerous times whilst out hunting and dealing with hunting hound puppies.

Gonegirl Sun 11-Nov-18 16:43:05

That poor little boy! (In the you tube video) He looked so lost. ?

Grampie Sun 11-Nov-18 16:27:46

Like our Queen, Charles may earn our respect as our monarch.

More than just another elected politician.

Anniebach Sun 11-Nov-18 16:20:46

The queen did not ignore Charles, so unfair to keep repeating this falsehood , so easy to say 66 yesrs later what his grandmother should hsve done in public, and compare it with a totally different situation 40 years later which took place in private

MargaretX Sun 11-Nov-18 15:51:04

oldbatty doubted if he was a farmer. In my post I menitoned that he came to Germany to see his second cousin who is an organic farmer. Our area is famous for its pink and black old race pig. one that can't live without roaming around. He was there picking the piglets up, tramping through the mud- he definitely must be a farmer

As to being king. I only know that I who grew up on an estate in Sheffield built for ordinary people with a huge park with tennis courts, swimming pool and bowls and long stretches of green hills and old trees. I actually had a country childhood and heard that it was George V that suggested more decent houses should be built.
I hope Charles can put a few wrongs right.

Ready meals,
The Queen became Monach at the age of 25
She had a child of 4years of age and one of 2years of age.
When Charles was 65, William was 31 years old.
He tried various things out including I believe a University Course in Farming as well as flying helicopters .
He seemed to enjoy that and I can't remember why he gave that up.
if Charles lives as long as his father it is going to be a long time before William will be King.
What will he be doing for the next 20 years or so?
As for when the Queen returned from a foreign trip and ignored Charles,I still think that was wrong .
Far better had the Queen Mother been able to take him onto the train briefly to see his mother

TwiceAsNice Sun 11-Nov-18 15:27:14

I saw the programme and enjoyed it, I've got a lot of time for Prince Charles I like him. I think he is doing his best now whatever his mistakes in the past, we've all made mistakes in our pasts but ours don't play out in the public eye. He had the plane and train adapted to take environmentally friendly fuel , they were explaining that in the programme. I say cut him some slack nobody's perfect.

SueDonim Sun 11-Nov-18 15:11:57

I thought the programme was interesting. I thought it was lovely to see how close William & Harry are as brothers and I smiled at how they gave him a gentle telling off about rushing about and not spending enough time with his GC.

I was impressed at how Charles can get down on his hunkers and stand up again without using his hands - I can't do that anymore!

He & Camilla spend quite a lot of time in this area, very low key, no fuss and bother, and they contribute much to the local economy and to the well-being of the community.

I'm in favour of a slimmed-down royal family but I prefer a monarch to the idea of a president.

Anniebach Sun 11-Nov-18 15:10:09

Diana didn’t care about Barry Manikkee’s wife and this was three years into her marriage . She gave that Panorama interview, so doe eyed, ‘ there were three in the marriage’

Must have forgotten Barry Msnikkee, Will Carling, Oliver Hoare, she didn’t mind being in their marriages ,
