I've watched one episode and enjoyed that.

I agree with you on the pig-headedness and arrogance. I was very young when JFK was around and don't remember his assassination,but finding the recreation of his shooting fascinating.

It seems Lee Harvey Oswald may not have fired the fatal bullet after all!.

Another documentary I saw on JFK focussed on his poor health - has had various crippling health problems, it seems - and that much of his presentation was more bravado than anything else, coupled with the pressure from his parents to succeed.

The young J Kennedy should never have flown that plane - he was crippled from an injury for starters.

He was also arrogant enough to risk the lives of his fiance/ wife and sister in law.

Yes I watched both programmes. What tragedy the Kennedy matriarch endured. One thing that always moves me is the footage of JFK’s funeral - John Kennedy Junior saluting his father on his third birthday. It seems that he was flawed like his father and it led to his early death. After the second episode there was a documentary about the shooting and speculation that an inexperienced FBI agent may have accidentally fired the shot that killed JFK. The FBI seemed to behave like headless chickens afterwards, insisting on being present at the autopsy and asking for his brain in a bucket because it was what his family wanted. It seems there were fragments of a bullet that exploded on impact in his brain and this would have been evidence that the bullet couldn’t have come from Lee Harvey Oswald’s weapon. Many witnesses said they could smell gunpowder which would have been impossible to smell from where Oswald was situated. It was a fascinating programme with lots of facts so I will watch it again. I am old enough to remember JFK’s assassination and the subsequent shooting of Oswald by Jack Ruby. I was 19 at the time.

I was 20 and remember it very well. It was horrendous, and seemed that all the hopes and dreams that this young dynamic President represented had all gone up in smoke. Literally!!

I was a schoolgirl and remember it very well. I was frightened that maybe the Russians were to blame and that there would be a war.

The second programme concerning the shooting and Lee Harvey Oswald, etc was very interesting. The investigator seemed meticulous and the programme was fascinating. I think he came to the right conclusion because it all made sense.

Can highly recommend both programmes.

Yes, it all made sense, didn't it?

Or at least, it made more sense than the "lone sniper" theory that seems to have been the accepted view.

If the accidental shooting by an FBI agent theory is correct, it makes one speculate as to whether the other shots would have been fatal on their own.

Probably not imho as it was the third which exploded in JFKs brain?

Another thought: Jackie was reported to have said "they've killed my husband..." what did she mean by this?

My own theory is that LHO was set up to assassinate JFK by Ruby or someone pulling Ruby's strings.

Ruby was then justified in killing LHO in revenge. No further questions would be asked as this action would be seen to be justifiable.

The FBI may well have been behind it all - the FBI perhaps set up the agent in the car who would have - conveniently - a weapon with him with which to fire a fatal shot, knowing that LHO was already in situ with his weapon and a sitting duck to take the blame.

Forensic science was not advanced enough at the time to draw any other conclusions. We can now draw different conclusions based on advances in science and technology.

I believe JFK may have been considered to be enough of a loose cannon by enough people to get himself bumped off (as indeed was Robert Kennedy later on).

Ted Kennedy was also proven to be less than squeaky clean in his involvement in, or a cover up of, the death of Mary Jo McKechnie.

Three brother for whom things did not end well.. not to mention the rest of the family for whom things did not go well either.

Fascinating family - but flawed.
