I just watched this documentary made in 1995, and really recommend it if you love The Stones.

They were performing old songs in small clubs and venues. Lots of interesting backstage conversations. The pared down, back to their roots blues music in the small studio was wonderful.

Mick Jagger is an amazing entertainer and so much energy still. Sadly I've never seen them live, I can't afford the huge price of tickets now. It was great.

I would love to see this documentary but I don't have Sky. Love the Stones. I have been lucky enough to see them and I was on Cloud 9 for ages after. Mick Jagged was incredible at 73. He ran continually for 2 1/2 hours. What a performer.
I was reading somewhere that MJ keeps supple with ballet and pilates. Perhaps we should give it a go!

I would have watched it too, if I had sky.
I'm partial to The Stones, even if they are a tiny bit before my time.

I have never liked the Stones (ducks behind sofa) and this thread title struck total fear into my heart ???

MissAdventure Wed 09-Jan-19 20:14:03

grin

Bikerhiker Wed 09-Jan-19 20:16:14

Yes MawBroon I can see how it could do that as much I love them!grin

Oh it's a shame you can't see it, very envious of you having seen them live. Yes MJ is so fit, he doesn't stop jumping and dancing around all through the show. Wow what energy for someone even half his age.

It was so good I was actually dancing a bit too, it may be my new get fit regime!

It also showed Ronnie Woods playing the pedal steel guitar on a real country type song, fantastic.

I love The Rolling Stones, and saw them at the Wembley Arena in the 80s. My sons (37 and 34) grew up hearing Stones music in our house, and the eldest son went to see them a few years ago. Brilliant stuff, and they still keep playing!

Bikerhiker Wed 09-Jan-19 20:25:11

I used to put the Aftermath album on YouTube and try to remember some of the keep fit routines from a class I attended when the children were small.
I haven't done it for a long time and it's about time I did!

Has anyone else seen the Counterfeit Stones? They are described as a cartoon version of the Stones. Their music is spot on and they are also very funny.

Fennel Wed 09-Jan-19 20:46:17

I never liked them at the time, but got to know them better later.
I like this one:

I love The Stones too and have seen them live three times over the years. Brilliant!

seacliff Wed 09-Jan-19 21:25:17

That was fantastic, thanks Fennel. I read that was done 2 years before Muddy died. Apparently whenever The Stones were in Chicago they'd try and meet up with him.

Bikerhiker Wed 09-Jan-19 21:52:41

Brilliant thanks Fennel.

Rather random link, but I've also just enjoyed listening to Keith Richards on Desert Island Discs, from 2015. www.bbc.co.uk/radio/player/b06kb0fw

Thanks to Jane Ainsworth for the link. Apparently you can access all the Desert Island archives. I'm going to try and put this on my Fire HD.

We have Sky Arts, but I've just trawled through all the available programmes on Catch-up and it's not there. A pity because my DH is a lifelong Stones fan and would love to have seen this sad

seacliff Wed 09-Jan-19 22:24:55

Hi Bathsheba. I found it by searching at the top left, for Rolling Stones.

Bathsheba Wed 09-Jan-19 22:33:00

Thanks seacliff - thing is, although we have Sky Arts, it's via Virgin, not Sky, so that may be why I can't find it. I'll have another go.

Bathsheba Wed 09-Jan-19 22:39:09

Well I just tried searching for Rolling Stones on Catch-up, and the only thing that came up was a Netflix film called "Rolling Stones: Crossfire Hurricane". Don't think it's the same programme, but could be worth a look anyway!

seacliff Wed 09-Jan-19 22:46:27

It's weird, when I went through catch up it didn't appear either, only when I searched. I could find it on my phone, so you might watch on your laptop or tablet. Never know, you might love that film!

Bathsheba Wed 09-Jan-19 22:52:13

Yes, I'm sure DH will watch it at some point. And he suggested having a look for the other programme on my iMac - might be worth a try!

Fennel Thu 10-Jan-19 09:31:38

What amazes me is that they're all still around, after the years of mis-spent youth.
There's hope for me yet!

KatyK Thu 10-Jan-19 09:47:22

I saw them a couple of times in the '60s. I wasn't keen at the start, a school friend begged me to go with her and paid for my ticket, so I went. The rest of us were Beatles gals, and no one would go with her - there was a rivalry in those days. A few years later I saw them again (paid for my own ticket) and liked them more.
