Never thought much of the first series but the reviews were so 100% DH decided he must be missing something.

Personally no thanks.

'Does anyone know of any grown ups who say rude words so very frequently ?' [err ; me blush ]….

kittylester Wed 10-Apr-19 18:04:33

Isn't Olivia Coleman brilliant as the stepmum?

Does anyone know of any grown ups who say rude words so very frequently ? Rude words don't offend me it's just that I wonder how realistic such frequent usage is . I have overheard schoolchildren doing what used to be called blasphemy, but not grown ups.

The step mums cryptic "I haven't decided yet" re motherhood & the surrogate at the wedding???

I don't want a 3rd series. It was too perfect. But also, I do!

The father... was both wise and cruel.

Him pointing out that the step mum was imperfect but loveable was telling fleabag that she too could be loved...but also in a cruel way. He will never really like or get fleabag..but he does love her..

... i dont know how to feel about that..

"No more misscarraiges" - I know someone who has had exactly that said to them by an IL!!

I think its a program you either relate to or you dont. If you have experienced some of the relationships depicted, it is perfect.

For me, the relationship between the two sisters was the main love story!

The sisters comment about only running through airports for her sister was such an emotional moment.

I do think that the relationship with the priest "peaked". It taught her that she is lovable. But the priest has his own demons and if he left the church for her it would have just been another thing on the list of things he ran away from.

Brilliant, so well written and each part no matter how small stunningly interpreted. Am quite bereft!

FountainPen Wed 10-Apr-19 14:54:39

Excellent. Both series. Stand out moments in this one was Kristen Scott Thomas's cameo with its nod to her scene in Four Weddings and a Funeral and Andrew Scott's sweary priest's wedding speech. The right ending too.

Urmstongran I found Little Life intensely moving, harrowing in parts. The story of tortured Jude and kind Willem has stayed with me too.

dragonfly46 Wed 10-Apr-19 14:52:09

I thought it was fantastic. Intelligent humour for a change. So much better than Mrs Brown!!

Teetime Wed 10-Apr-19 14:46:22

The finale was great - I'm going back to the beginning to watch it all again.

Urmstongran Wed 10-Apr-19 14:15:41

I haven’t watched it. I’m rubbish really as I don’t watch television much so I can’t comment but your post nannylovesshipping resonated as, I feel similar emotions with some of the books I read. When they come to an end, I feel hollow as if I’ve lost friends! I still remember finishing ‘A Little Life’ by American novelist Hanya Yanagihara.

Nannylovesshopping Wed 10-Apr-19 14:07:50

I loved every minute, am almost in mourning.

Eloethan Wed 10-Apr-19 12:30:50

Oh no, it's over. I will really miss Fleabag, and the ending was just so poignant.

Maybe you're right Lisagran. It would be sad to see such a brilliant series fade into mediocrity. Better to leave on a high.

Lisagran Wed 10-Apr-19 00:16:44

Interesting what a “marmite” programme this was - some loved it, some hated it. I warmed to it more in the second series. Initially I’d thought the swearing was gratuitous and the “asides” to the viewer derivative (Miranda?), but in the second series the characters were excellently portrayed - so vulnerable. Sad it’s the last one, but a wise decision I think, rather than dragging it on, as they do with some programmes.

Watched this last episode laughing through my tears. Nothing to touch it on television at the moment for the quality of the acting and writing.

Flawed complex characters - so well written. Brilliant.

Deedaa Tue 09-Apr-19 22:58:38

Really couldn't take to any of the characters - except Andrew Scott of course! Did record some bits of him wink

Love this series, brilliant writing, loved the hot priest and the love- hate sisterly relationship, plus Olivia Coleman.

Kristen Scott Thomas was magnificent in last week's episode and Andrew Scott is perfect as the sweary, conflicted priest. Brilliant writing and casting.

SisterAct Wed 03-Apr-19 20:33:50

My OH started watching it and I now love it.
