Oh wow! I have gone back to episode one and it is so good, so relevant.

Littleannie Sun 31-Mar-19 13:50:42

Bikergran- and when you have finished watching the repeats on BBC4, don't forget the new series 5 starts tonight on BBC1 ! I have just finished watching all the earlier series on i-player, all 23 episodes, as it is a few years since I saw them. I watch on my tablet with my earphones on. My husband says he has never had such a quiet week!

I have enjoyed revisiting the first two series. Interesting to see how mobile phones and eyebrow shapes age so quickly.

I’ve been catching up and just reached the end of series three which (imo) got a bit daft towards the end. Without giving anything away, if I’d arranged a pick up point to escape, I’d make sure it was a darned sight closer so we didn’t have to have the obligatory and very dangerous armed chase through urban streets. The thing I enjoy most about this programme is the fast-pace and forensic intelligence work. Very cleverly plotted. Is George Costigan cornering the market in vague, sleazy characters? My favourite police show is Scott and Bailey (in which he also appeared) with Line of Duty now coming a close second.

It's TONIGHT!!!! Done series 1 again as a sort of refresher course. Thanks for all the posts on here which have jogged my memory.

bikergran Sun 31-Mar-19 10:03:19

I may be gone for some time! don't expect me back until around 2025 lol (rolls eyes)

bikergran Sun 31-Mar-19 07:40:45

Ok thanks Littleannie smile

Littleannie Sat 30-Mar-19 23:08:14

Sorry, should have said they start tomorrow, Sunday night, on BBC4. Not Monday.

Littleannie Sat 30-Mar-19 22:32:15

Bikergran. Not channel 4 but BBC4.

bikergran Sat 30-Mar-19 20:59:59

Thanks littleannie I have a hard driver recorder, will look for them on channel 4 next week as not up to sitting up burning the midnight oil tonight smile thanks for the info.

Never watched any of these but going to put it on my "list of things to do"

Littleannie Sat 30-Mar-19 17:04:46

If you miss them on i-player, they are all being repeated on BBC4 next week, though it is very late at night. Not sure if they will then be on BBC4 i-player for a month as well.
If you have Sky or similar, you could of course record them from BBC4 to watch at a better time!

bikergran Sat 30-Mar-19 09:09:26

ok just checked Episode 1 and 2 are available for one more day. episode 3/4/5 have 2 days.

Guess who might be sitting up all night lol.

Anniebach Sat 30-Mar-19 09:08:16

Maggie there is little I watch on tv , read this thread, download series 1 on Catch Up and watched 3 episodes yesterday!

Maggiemaybe Fri 29-Mar-19 20:08:00

I’m quite jealous, Annie, that you have it all ahead of you!

Iam, I agree about Ted - I’m a huge fan!

Anniebach Fri 29-Mar-19 19:58:49

Had never heard of this programme, watching series 1.

Thank you

Littleannie Fri 29-Mar-19 19:52:57

If you want to catch all the previous series on i-player you will have to be quick, as they expire in a few days.
If you can get hold of a copy of today's Daily Mail, there is a summary of all the main action for all the series, which should jog your memory if you haven't got time to watch it on i-player.

Iam64 Fri 29-Mar-19 19:40:40

It's the best series I've watched in - well as long as I can remember. Brilliant cast, great writing, complex plot lines with complex characters - what's not to like. It's edge of your seat excitement.
Please - don't let Ted be a Bad Guy, he's one of the few hero's we can (and do) love.

Parsley3 Fri 29-Mar-19 19:07:38

Yes, watch it from the beginning as story lines continue from one series to the next.

bikergran Fri 29-Mar-19 17:02:40

I've never watched a single episode, but sounds intriguing is it available on catch up, do I need to watch the First series ?

Lily65 Fri 29-Mar-19 16:53:13

The whole series is in a league of its own and far superior to the over hyped and sexed up Body guard.

Lily65 Fri 29-Mar-19 16:52:31

Great story, great actress!

FountainPen Fri 29-Mar-19 16:44:55

Lily65. Yes, it was said with a smile as I'm watching these two very different series in tandem. She had Arnott fooled at one point ... or was he? Maybe just lulling her into a false sense of having some support but those violent outbursts - the bottle road the head of the noisy neighbour and driving the car over and over into the legs of her kidnapper. She was a psychopath.

oldgimmer1 Fri 29-Mar-19 15:24:42

It could have been Nige (Morrissey)pensioned off.

Dryden was also pensioned off in the end I think as the charges against him didn't stick.

And of course Tony Gates who got killed "In the Line of Duty" so his wife could keep his pension.

Fab characters - flawed but ambiguous.

That's what i like about LoD - there's no tidy answers. Keeps you guessing.

I think Kate is an Inspector in the upcoming series - beating Steve to it!

I suppose Steve must have taken quite a bit of time off after his tribulations, hence not making Inspector despite passing the exams.

Maggiemaybe Fri 29-Mar-19 14:42:31

It wasn't Hastings that was pensioned off, ninathenana. Are you perhaps thinking of the Neil Morrissey character (the one with the stick who was falsely claiming disability benefits?). Still Behaving Badly after all these years. smile

EllanVannin Fri 29-Mar-19 13:38:25

My D had a pic taken with Stephen Graham last year when he was on set making this series.

HootyMcOwlface Fri 29-Mar-19 13:32:13

Poor Arnott, I wonder what’s in store for the fella in this series. In the past he’s been bashed round the head with an oxygen cylinder (or something like that), nearly had his fingers cut off, and thrown down a stairwell! Will he survive this series?!
