Oh wow! I have gone back to episode one and it is so good, so relevant.

kittylester Mon 06-May-19 09:25:22

But where were the other armed officer - AC12's normal ones?

Charleygirl5 Mon 06-May-19 09:14:49

I also was let down by the ending. I am going to have to watch the entire series because I do not have a clue who Ryan is or where he appeared from-no, I was not asleep.

I think the last dot has to be one of the high ranking female police officers- there is nobody else left!

Iam64 Mon 06-May-19 09:11:48

On reflection I don't believe Ted did expose John Corbett as an UCO, it was the OCG in the shape of Gill Bigelow who got John killed, so they could frame Ted for the murder by planting the hairs Gill took from ted's hair brush. Phew -

harrigran Mon 06-May-19 09:07:03

I had it worked out before started watching last night, I enjoyed the series and the last 1.5 hours was brilliant.

Iam64 Mon 06-May-19 08:58:59

The envelope was the other £50,000 which Ted had hidden somewhere. He isn't John's son, by the time he met Ann Marie, John had already been born. We discovered that Ted feels guilty that the contact Ann Marie had with him as an informant led to her death. I think he did tell the chap in prison that John Corbett was UCO and that led the OCG to kill him - hence Ted's guilt and decision to give the ill gotten gains to John's widow.

kittylester, the armed police were set down by the senior investigating officer. She believed they were safe as they'd caught H. Thank goodness for Kate n Steve.

Kate had the best line of the series 'stop making a tit of yourself and p*ss off".

kittylester Mon 06-May-19 08:58:24

But, where did the armed police all go?

Marydoll Mon 06-May-19 08:50:06

Thoroughly enjoyed it and I guessed the culprit!
However, what made her try to frame Ted. Nina ? I too am convinced that the missing £50,000 was in the envelope.
Will this come back to " bite" Ted in the next serious. ?

ninathenana Mon 06-May-19 08:41:49

I'm convinced the envelope Ted took to the cemetery was the missing money.

Lilypops Mon 06-May-19 08:28:41

Where did that money that Ted had come from ? Why was Gill framing Ted, Was John Teds son, it was brilliant but left me with a lot of unanswered questions , and I did try to keep up !!

sodapop Mon 06-May-19 08:26:45

I enjoyed it as well. I agree the interview scenes did drag a little and I found the dialogue hard to follow on occasions.
I saw that as well AuntieFlo and wondered if it was the missing money. The series held my interest throughout and my husband's which says a lot. Looking forward to the next series.

EllanVannin Mon 06-May-19 08:21:21

I wonder if those police officers who managed to watch the series reached the right conclusion ?

Sar53 Mon 06-May-19 08:08:15

I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series. There had been mention of a sixth series so I thought we probably wouldn't know who H was in this one.
I think John may have been Hasting's son, he obviously didn't know that Anne Marie was pregnant and became very upset when he found out.
Looking forward to series six whenever that may be.

Auntieflo Mon 06-May-19 07:48:11

Nina, we also thought that John may be Ted's son.
Then when he saw John's wife at the cemetery, he was carrying a brown envelope/parcel. Could that have been the missing money, for her?

kittylester Mon 06-May-19 07:41:55

I loved it! I'm hoping someone will explain the money to me properly and where all the armed police went to.

There will be more questions later as they come to me.

Wasn't it brilliant?

Dontaskme Mon 06-May-19 07:40:43

What a let down!

Calendargirl Mon 06-May-19 07:37:14

I was underwhelmed by last episode, and a bit disappointed truth to tell. Although I think Anna Maxwell Martin was great in her role, my subtitle button didn’t work and I found her rather quiet measured tones hard to follow. Also the interview scenes went on a bit.
I too wondered if John was Ted’s son, he seemed so distraught hearing he was the woman’s son.
And why did Ted visit that chap in prison?
Wish we had seen more of Kate and Steve, always feel things will work out if Kate’s there!

Brunette10 Mon 06-May-19 07:29:39

Throughly enjoyed last night's Line of Duty. ninathenana I thought exactly the same.

ninathenana Mon 06-May-19 07:26:07

Ryan will be interesting to watch next series. Could they not tell from that smerky smile that he's a wrong 'un smile
Dot's morse code thing confused me, how did Steve work out what he was trying to tell them ? and I'm not 100% clear on his explanation.
Is it just me who thinks the under cover cop may have been Ted's son. Given his reaction to who his mum was.

Marelli Mon 06-May-19 06:04:54

Namsnanny, that's exactly what I did. ?

Namsnanny Sun 05-May-19 23:32:50

Gonegirl….Yes your sons right!!
That's why I like it, things get staged in one series then answered in the next!!
Keeps us on our toes!!

Gonegirl Sun 05-May-19 23:21:57

Series One?!

Son said the young one slit John's throat.

I need to watch it again.

Gonegirl Sun 05-May-19 23:18:09

I did think it was exciting when they all turned their guns on each other. smile God knows why they did it though

Namsnanny Sun 05-May-19 23:16:09

mcem….the rookie recruit, is the young boy from series one, who was in the employ of the baddies. He was the one nearly always on a bike, who tried to cut of Steve Arnot's finger. He also murdered John Corbet (I think!).
He's been groomed and planted.

paddyann Sun 05-May-19 23:12:58

Martin Compson fans might like to find the interview with Edie Stark on BBC Scotland Its Stark Talk and it been a great series with interesting folk The Martin Compson one was really good ,he comes across as a very well sorted young man without an ego.

Namsnanny Sun 05-May-19 23:11:02

Gonegirl….Yes those interviews are hypnotic, I think they're there to stop us seeing exactly where the real answers are! A bit of a red herring in a way.
