Good viewing tonight at 9.00. On for four more this week?

I thought the acting was poor and felt annoyed with Liam's mother when I should have felt sympathy for her. DH and I kept asking each other what was being said, not sure whether it was the accent or the actors mumbling.

Yes, thoroughly enjoyed this drama. The only loose end (or did I miss something?): the bit about Danny having some sort of conviction, and having been the one who found the body? What was all that about? And why did he and the young son trash the grave and then clean it up? Did Lou never see him again?

Fabulous acting. Loved this series.

Jane43 Thu 11-Apr-19 22:35:23

What an amazing drama. Very thought provoking, no silly stunts, just fabulous actors portraying a complex issue, there were so many victims in the story so the title was very apt. I agree that James Harkness’s performance was outstanding. Even when he revealed that he was Eddie I still felt sympathy for him and that was down to his acting skills. I agree that he deserves an award.

Stunning, just stunning

Kandinsky Thu 11-Apr-19 22:08:29

I thought the acting was fairly wooden & a bit disappointed with the ending.

Gonegirl Thu 11-Apr-19 22:08:10

I put it alongside that awful book, The Room. That was obviously based on real life happenings. Not good.

Pittcity Thu 11-Apr-19 22:06:15

I've dried my tears after that intense ending. I hope BAFTA was watching.

Gonegirl Thu 11-Apr-19 22:06:08

I didn't like it. Was too similar to the James Bulger case. Not sure if it should ever have been shown.

Sparklefizz Thu 11-Apr-19 22:04:35

WOW!! Incredible acting, drama and suspense. The best thing that's been on TV for ages!!!

maryeliza54 Thu 11-Apr-19 20:50:10

Call that’s part of the issue isn’t it - who is the victim? Are they both victims? If he’s the killer is it all right what she did but it isn’t if he’s not? Does everyone deserve the protection of the law regardless of what they’ve done? Is she to be forgiven if she’s ruined an innocent man’s life because her son was murdered? Victim impact statements are quite routine I believe btw

Callistemon Thu 11-Apr-19 17:36:46

I am hoping that The Victim ends in a reasonable way, particularly regarding the attitude of John Hannah's detective towards the mother.

When did Victim Impact Statements become the norm and how come the mother of a murdered child is not regarded as a victim too? I really dislike the character he is playing and in particular his manipulation of a vulnerable teenage patient. Surely that would not be allowed? I hope he gets his comeuppance (the detective, not the teenage drug addict).

Looking forward to tonight's episode of The Victim and next week's episode of The Bay. Enjoyed them both last night but hope there are a few more twists in the final tonight.

Charleygirl5 Wed 10-Apr-19 15:19:06

Tonight I will be watching The Victim and recording The Bay- I am also enjoying that. It makes a change to have something to watch mid week.

Eloethan Wed 10-Apr-19 12:14:55

The Victim is excellent and raises a lot of difficult and interesting issues.

We've seen two episodes of The Widow and won't be watching any more. We shouldn't have bothered with the second episode. It's awful.

Kandinsky Wed 10-Apr-19 11:59:11

I watch anything with John Hannah in it. < swoon > grin
But it is good, can’t wait for tonight’s episode!

maryeliza54 Wed 10-Apr-19 11:41:25

The Widow is rubbish and even more so in comparison with The Victim

Karanlouise Wed 10-Apr-19 11:04:29

You might be right about the friend Jane43, I do love a red herring!! I have recorded the Widow but don't think I will bother with it now.

Jane43 Wed 10-Apr-19 10:44:12

This is an excellent drama for me and I am very involved in it. I think the actor who plays Craig Myers is excellent, the part last night when he went back to work and tried to drive the bus was very moving. John Hannah is excellent too.

Unfortunately I chose to watch The Widow which is on at the same time, mainly because Alex Kingston is in it but in complete contrast to The Victim I am not involved in the story at all.

I think we are supposed to think the friend Tom is the real killer but I think it is a red herring, we will see.

Karanlouise Wed 10-Apr-19 09:15:46

Yes, I think the real killer is the friend of Craig Myers and I think the daughters boyfriend was the one that beat up Craig. But that's just my theory, could change my mind tonight.

Sparklefizz Wed 10-Apr-19 09:03:47

...or the daughter's sly-looking boyfriend? Or is he too young?

Sparklefizz Wed 10-Apr-19 09:02:23

Anyone else think the real child killer is the guy's mate, Tom?

maryeliza54 Tue 09-Apr-19 23:14:58

This is so powerful I find myself holding my breath in parts. Line of tonight - JH about the mother - the only thing she’s entitled to is her grief. Lots of food for thought in the whole story.

Lazigirl Tue 09-Apr-19 17:25:47

It's interesting in that it sets out quite a few moral dilemmas. Guess there's going to be a huge twist at end.

trisher Tue 09-Apr-19 10:56:11

Few problems with this. Anyone know if it is common in Scottish courts for an accused person to enter the court through the public area? Don't they have to surrender to the court officers and be led in? Wouldn't the chap who was attacked have a victim support officer with him? And wouldn't the judge insist that questioning was only about the alleged crime and not about his real identity?
