I think it is great. Very funny in almost pantomime style. I loved the letter in the drawer. I'm happy about the kissing as a hint at much more ...not as explicit as a lot of dramas.
I don’t find it very funny, I must say, and I thought the scene with the pigs was beyond horrible. I find the whole thing, and particularly the title character, slightly sinister and creepy in some weird way. Still watching, though.
Still enjoying the series. A lot of the complaints aren’t evident to me. The only thing I would say is thAt this is the 3rd or 4th time BBC’s have visited this character....she’s obviously struck a chord with someone! A history professor once told me to read differing versions of the same period, as history is told through the subjective views of the historian. Perhaps the bbc are doing just that!!
I find the title character, as played, so off putting that I almost don’t watch. However, I do, for other reasons, historical and visual.
Aten’t some of the other characters a bit too sophisticated about the existence of lesbianism? I’d have thought the average person then, as in my childhood, would think they were just friends and companions and have no idea there was sex between women...
I am still enjoying it overall despite Ann Walker being a bit of a ditherer. Still love the music. Nice to see something different. The end shocked me this week (no spoilers).
I didn’t watch it this week. I’ve decided it’s not worth my time to watch something where I find none of the main characters sympathetic. I may go back if one Sunday there is nothing else worth watching.
