Well. I thought it was well acted, lively and funny. Hope it keeps up at this pace!

Alexa Mon 03-Jun-19 10:18:34

Why did the pigs not eat the farmer before he was dead?

Gonegirl Mon 03-Jun-19 10:20:04

Perhaps the smell of blood was needed..... shock

Gonegirl Mon 03-Jun-19 10:21:44

We were watching a pig family in the countryside a while back. The huge daddy pig would definitely have eaten us if he could have got out!

Ohmother Mon 03-Jun-19 11:12:32

Because he was tied up outside the pig pen, Alexa.

Ohmother Mon 03-Jun-19 11:18:33

Grannylyn65. Give us a clue then! ?

Alexa Mon 03-Jun-19 11:23:47

So he was sweating such a lot because the pigs were watching him hungrily.

Alexa Mon 03-Jun-19 11:29:12

I should not be supporting Miss Lister. I should be on the side of the stroppy farmer. I am not sure that GJ is polititically correct.

Willow500 Mon 03-Jun-19 13:27:38

We're loving it - husband has played the title song umpteen times already! grin

Pittcity Mon 03-Jun-19 14:27:38

I think it is great. Very funny in almost pantomime style. I loved the letter in the drawer.
I'm happy about the kissing as a hint at much more ...not as explicit as a lot of dramas.

PamGeo Mon 03-Jun-19 14:35:28

Loved it, great to have a bit of fun and I bet she wasn't boring to be around . Thank goodness she kept a diary

Grandma70s Mon 03-Jun-19 15:33:14

I don’t find it very funny, I must say, and I thought the scene with the pigs was beyond horrible. I find the whole thing, and particularly the title character, slightly sinister and creepy in some weird way. Still watching, though.

Alexa Mon 03-Jun-19 16:30:45

Miss Lister as acted is creepy because she so accurately portrays male seduction techniques while her body is that of a woman.

Namsnanny Mon 03-Jun-19 16:32:35

Oh mother...’granylyn65 give us a clue then!smile’...
My echo...

Namsnanny Mon 03-Jun-19 16:39:48

Still enjoying the series. A lot of the complaints aren’t evident to me.
The only thing I would say is thAt this is the 3rd or 4th time BBC’s have visited this character....she’s obviously struck a chord with someone!
A history professor once told me to read differing versions of the same period, as history is told through the subjective views of the historian.
Perhaps the bbc are doing just that!!

whywhywhy Mon 03-Jun-19 16:44:44

I love it! The story is so true to the real person and the music is fantastic. Looking forward to seeing some more. x

Ohmother Mon 03-Jun-19 18:01:20

I didn’t get who she means????

Ohmother Mon 03-Jun-19 18:02:10

That was for the part that the friend’s son is playing.

Ohmother Mon 10-Jun-19 14:32:21

Another good episode. I’m loving the subtle humour. ?

Grandma70s Mon 10-Jun-19 20:28:42

I’m not getting subtle humour. Where is it?

I find the title character, as played, so off putting that I almost don’t watch. However, I do, for other reasons, historical and visual.

Aten’t some of the other characters a bit too sophisticated about the existence of lesbianism? I’d have thought the average person then, as in my childhood, would think they were just friends and companions and have no idea there was sex between women...

seacliff Mon 17-Jun-19 21:28:48

I am still enjoying it overall despite Ann Walker being a bit of a ditherer. Still love the music. Nice to see something different. The end shocked me this week (no spoilers).

Avor2 Mon 17-Jun-19 22:02:01

seacliff I agree, Ann Walker is a bit wet and is annoying me slightly I do think that Suranne Jones plays Ann Lister so well, very charasmatic.

Yes the end of this week came as a shock but that is all to the good.

Music is great. All in all very enjoyable xx

Ohmother Mon 17-Jun-19 22:08:03

Still loving it! What a twist this week! ?

WOODMOUSE49 Mon 17-Jun-19 23:27:19

Same here Lilypops.
Loved Line of Duty. Suranne would be great in next series.
Just watched first 3 series of LOD again.

Grandma70s Tue 18-Jun-19 06:22:34

I didn’t watch it this week. I’ve decided it’s not worth my time to watch something where I find none of the main characters sympathetic. I may go back if one Sunday there is nothing else worth watching.

NanKate Tue 18-Jun-19 07:42:15

Suranne Jones is great in the part. Her love interest is a bit too wet for my liking.
