Is anyone listening to this year’ s lectures? Absolutely brilliant and the first part of today’s was particularly relevant to the issue of the concept of representative democracy. But the whole lecture was so thought provoking - last weeks was also great. I love listening to the elegance of a great legal mind

Listened this morning, it was really interesting.

I love the way he states something so elegantly and clearly and then you catch your breath as you realise how absolutely excoriating it was. Key points this morning about the ‘winner take all’ mentality and the use of the ‘will of the people’ argument. I thought the whole section on the role of judges was fascinating. In fact I’m going to listen again later this morning.

I try not to miss the lectures, always find them interesting and informative. It all sounds as if it might be a bit ‘high brow,’ but isn’t.
Can recommend.

Absolutely agree about not thinking they are highbrow and so not listening. They are quite ‘packed’ though and I never try and do anything else at the same time as listening like ironing for example. He is clearly still very calmly angry about how the judiciary were treated re the Miller case, the ‘enemies of the people’ and the ‘saboteurs’ headlines and the appalling failure of Liz Truss and other politicians to come to their defence. He mentioned it last week and this. I think we really do have a very laudable judiciary with an excellent Supreme Court. Of course it’s not perfect but when you look at the shambles in the States with their politicised system of judicial appointments .... apparently DT isn’t just packing the SC with his people but the whole raft of federal courts across the nation. Really terrifying

Really enjoying these this year and you’re right MaryEliza you can’t do anything else at the same time, need to give them your full attention!
