I know lots of people love Wimbledon which starts on Monday and I hope you see some great games.
However, I wish the BBC would spare a thought for those that find it all a big yawn. Why does it have to be on BBC1 and BBC2 simultaneously for flippin' hours. One channel is enough surely ?
Anyone here fanatical enough to watch both channels at once smile

Sympathies but - favourite fortnight of the year!! - plenty of other channels, after all..

KatyK Sat 29-Jun-19 11:18:08

I'm not remotely interested in Wimbledon or any sport for that matter. Someone gave us free tickets for Wimbledon many years ago. I spent my time there people watching. The tennis was a bore.

Not a Wimbledon fan

Maggiemaybe Sat 29-Jun-19 11:28:00

I’m not a tennis fan, but barely register the TV coverage these days. There are so many channels (and we only have Freeview). Plus the fact that at any given time I have at least a fortnight’s worth of stuff I’ve recorded and really must watch.

What I dont understand is why the bbc doesn't have a dedicated sports channel.

Jane10 Sat 29-Jun-19 12:21:12

There seem to be several sports channels. Don't know why BBC needs to give such massive coverage to it.

Jane10 Sat 29-Jun-19 12:22:54

PS I don't know if you've noticed it but there's a hilarious little film of Judy Murray talking about her third son. It's a spoof but very well done with a straight face : Disappointing Duncan I think it's called.

I hate sports! I wish I didn't as there is so much of it but I JUST DON'T CARE who can run/drive/ride/swim, etc. faster, or score higher! I really don't! sad

Charleygirl5 Sat 29-Jun-19 12:52:48

I enjoy watching most but not all sports but I could not agree more, the same should not be shown on two channels and the BBC should have its own sports channel.

EllanVannin Sat 29-Jun-19 13:01:35

______not into tennis, cricket, football et al. Just the Olympics for me.

Gonegirl Sat 29-Jun-19 13:05:02

Not into any of it. Don't mind about daytime schedules but leave my evenings alone.

Daughter is fanatical about tennis. hmm

Maggiemaybe Sat 29-Jun-19 13:06:07

Me too, EllanVannin.

Jane43 Sat 29-Jun-19 16:24:22

I used to like watching it years ago when there were no tie breakers and great players such as Ken Rosewall and Rod Laver. It’s not the same now with all the grunting and tantrums. DH loves it though so I have to retreat to the other television.

sunseeker Sat 29-Jun-19 16:38:18

Don't watch much TV but can sympathise with those dreading Wimbledon. I agree it doesn't make sense for it to be on both BBC1 and BBC2 at the same time (assume they are showing different matches?)

GillT57 Sat 29-Jun-19 16:56:45

Oh I dread Wimbledon fortnight, have to turn it off, especially when the grunting starts........

MawBroonsback Sat 29-Jun-19 17:12:21

Ooh bring on the mini Magnums ? grin

GrannyGravy13 Sat 29-Jun-19 17:46:10

BBC has sports channels but I believe they are pay per view.

kittylester Sat 29-Jun-19 21:54:13

I've never come across them, gg and I think someone in my soortsmad family would have done.

jusnoneed Sat 29-Jun-19 22:16:19

Wimbledon is one of the few things I watch on the Beeb, so I'm looking forward to it.
Not seen any BBC sports channels either, do you mean BT sports GrannyGravy?
