Anyone else catch this 15min story 1.45pm on radio 4 this afternoon. It made me chuckle as a family were sharing memories of 'the flapper' a kitchen utensil used by the mother of the house for everything from smoothing concrete on a path to scraping the bowl when baking sponges!!! smile

That "flapper" sounds a bit like my old bread knife travelsafar. It has been used for laying turf, cutting plastic, cardboard and very occasionally bread.

I will try to get The Flapper on catch-up later, it sounds good fun. smile
