Strictly Come Dancing 2019

I've just seen the lineup for this year's Strictly & I've only heard of 3 of them- Anneka Rice, James Cracknell & Catherine Tydlesley.
There is also a footballer but I couldn't name a single football player anyway so I would not expect to know him.
Surely there must be plenty of interesting & well known people dead keen to take part so why this bunch of little unknown minor celebs? Maybe it is the cost of getting proper celebs.
What a pity.

If it's Halloween Week RomyP ...........I don't like it either!

RomyP Mon 12-Aug-19 21:18:21

Avor2, thank you, I'll look for that page.

Persistentdonor, your comment made me laugh, thanks for doing that ?. Maybe the penny will drop some time in next 26 years.

DanniRae, it's a fun programme isn't it? So much work goes into each episode, that in itself is worth admiring. There's one particular week I don't like so after a few years decided not to watch it in future unless I hear of any spectacular performances then I'll watch on catch up. I don't grumble about it though, and I know other people really love that week, it's personal preference, we don't always like everything about a programme but can still enjoy the biggest part of it. X

If you are on Facebook there is a page called Strictly NO Men Maf, if anyone starts moaning, or bad mouthing to an extreme then you are out, no messing. More laughs on there and everyone is friendly, especially by the final, we all seem to be sitting there with a glass of something watching and chatting about it with each other. Much nicer than "The Dark Side" website. give it a try smile

Interesting comment RomyP "someone married to a dancer which apparently equates to him having an unfair advantage"....

Seriously, one would expect it SHOULD create an advantage, in that he/she can practise away from the studio with someone who knows how to dance, but I can promise you, (as a dancer,) after 26 years of trying to turn my husband into a dancer, I am no further forward. sad

DanniRae Mon 12-Aug-19 08:48:51

Well said RomyP! grin

RomyP Sun 11-Aug-19 21:00:06

Avor2, please tell us the lovely website where no bitching is allowed. I'm already fed up reading comments about someone married to a dancer which apparently equates to him having an unfair advantage. I'm just glad he's not married to a surgeon and wants to try doing that himself. I love the costumes, the routines, the hairstyles etc, even when the dancing isn't great there are things to appreciate I don't know why we need to know the people who are in it, it's merely escapism on a Saturday evening for me. My only down side of the show is it means winter will be here much sooner than I'd like it to be.

DanniRae Sun 11-Aug-19 19:59:22

As long as Gorka the Corker is still on it I am happy! grin

Charleygirl5 Sun 11-Aug-19 18:22:30

kitty I agree, many of us were taken for a ride.

Ngaio1 Sun 11-Aug-19 18:12:00

It just won't be the same without (my) Pasha!!!!!!

kittylester Sun 11-Aug-19 18:09:58

As I said, I was traumatised! It ruined it for me that year - both strictly and this thread!

I know I should 'let it go' but I found it really pushy. blush

dragonfly46 Sun 11-Aug-19 17:30:18

Gosh I am shocked! callgirl1

callgirl1 Sun 11-Aug-19 17:24:58

Susannah Reid`s mum, Dragonfly. Talk about a campaign!!

dragonfly46 Sun 11-Aug-19 17:11:05

I love it too. We soon get to know every one as the weeks go on.

Whose mother came on GN? I am intrigued.

DanniRae Sun 11-Aug-19 17:07:26

Oh, Avor2 a bit of snogging What are you like? (Can you tell us the website so I can keep up with the snogging too? Ta)

Avor2 Sun 11-Aug-19 15:44:42

We always get the moaners about it but I have found a brilliant website where no-one is allowed to carry on about who has had more dance experience than anyone else, its all a fix and who is and isn't snogging whoever, stuff like that, it is a breath of fresh air to just comment about the dancing, although I don't mind hearing about a bit of snogging. Looking forward to it.

Anneka Rice, James Cracknell and Mike Bushell. That's all I recognise so far. Must have spent the last several months/years in a cave, obv....

DanniRae Sat 10-Aug-19 08:00:43

Burnt out? - NNNNNOOOOOOO!! I love it!!!!! grin

WOODMOUSE49 Fri 09-Aug-19 20:43:36

Looks a brilliant mix of celebs. Doesn't bother me that I don't know some. New judge and new pro dancers too.

2018 was such a success. Light entertainment at its best for me.

Looking forward to ITT starting up again too.

kittylester Thu 08-Aug-19 20:45:21

I know petra. I'm still so cross I think I'm mentally scarred for life by the experience. grin

DanniRae Thu 08-Aug-19 19:15:16

I had never heard of Jo Sugg or Stacey Dooley from last year but soon got to know, and like them. So I guess the same will happen this year.
I have heard of 7 and recognised 2 more but didn't know their names.

petra Thu 08-Aug-19 18:19:21

Kittylester
Let it go, let it go ???? ?

GrannyGravy13 Thu 08-Aug-19 18:17:17

I shall watch regardless

kittylester Thu 08-Aug-19 18:09:29

I dont care, I love it. I'll add my usual comment. I hope no one's Mum joins gn to encourage us to vote for their offspring. That still rankles.

I quite like the Made in Chelsea chap but cant remember his name. I like Mike Bushell too but dont expect him to last long.

Lessismore Thu 08-Aug-19 18:06:37

Rubbish, it may propel me forward to learn a language or something useful.

It's burnt out.

nanaK54 Thu 08-Aug-19 18:05:03

I know seven smile
