Love this programme
Good to see it making its way to evening TV

I really enjoy watching The Repair Shop.
I'm toying with the idea of applying to the show.
We have a grandfather clock in our hall. I've never heard it working. The door hinges are broken, the mechanism must be very dirty, but DH says all the pieces are there, pendulum etc.
The only problem is that the programme is filmed in Sussex, it's a long way from Northumberland.

I was also stunned at how perfect the repaired painting was but very surprised when the son said he had no other pictures of his mother at that age. I've loads of photos of my mother (similar vintage) at that age and younger.

I've never watched anything with him in it so I'm not sure who he is - but he seems OK and isn't shouty or limelight hogging. I supposed with any programme they need someone to give continuity to the different segments? According to google he's an upcycled furtniture restorer and runs a social enterprise - who knew?!

I have a crush on like the young chap, William - what an amazing skill he has. The only slight and completely pointless gripe I have is with the way that Kirsten pronounces her name - but maybe it's a foreign pronunciation.

I think this is the 3rd series ?
They are currently showing repeats. DH have watched every episode so far of this brilliant programme and look forward to a new series soon. Preferably without the superfluous Jay

We nearly didn't watch it because Jay Blades is in it. DH can't stand him on Money for Nothing.

merlotgran - hopefully the Beeb will realise that nice gentle programmes with no swearing, no media "wannabees" etc are the way to increase viewing figures.

I love the programme too, although I do always wonder why Jay Blades is there. He doesn't really add anything to it.

We love it and the Beeb must be amazed at the soaring ratings.

Me too nanasam - although it's interesting that people have said they've tried to get the items fixed and couldn't find anyone to do it. I think it shows just how lacking these specialised skills are.

The portrait of the woman last night was very emotional - what an amazing thing to work on and how lovely for the son that he was able to have such a beautiful reminder of his mum.

We watch it every day. I wish I had one tenth of the skills they possess. I've thrown things away in the past when they've broken, thinking they could never be repaired

It is brilliant. We are in awe of the skill and care that the team devote to every item that they restore. Last night's portrait of a beautiful woman was very special.
