He has grown up so much in the intervening years. When you look at old footage such as this, you realise how gauche and young he was. Now at almost 71, he comes across as a wise, caring, dutiful man, and I feel sure Camilla’s influence has played no small part in making him a much happier person, at ease with himself, with others, and his future role in life.

I do know he does hedging and is passionate about dry stone
walling.

I am warming to Prince Charles He seems to be a hands on landlord. He said he spends about 2 hours at weekends, physically working on the land......sorting out the fences etc. Good on him ....

He has turned out to be a very popular Prince of Wales , but he was so young when invested .

Following on from Cornwall. Last night's programme about Charles' investiture as Prince of Wales brought back memories. The look of shock on Princess Margaret's face when they heard the explosion from outside the castle walls made me realise how stoical they've always been. The Queen Mother barely flinched! I think things would be different today. Security would be much tighter for a start.

Never mind the Highgrove. I'll have some of that lovely Welsh farmhouse please.

Grouse moors and other shooting and hunting preserves, and golf courses are two uses of land which are bad for the natural environment and for public access. Prince Charles seems to be a philanthropic landlord who does some organic farming and some conservation of traditional breeds. It's a pity he shoots but one hopes he stops his gamekeepers breaking the law.

Absolutely right, Anniebach. She's more than proved herself worthy. And it would be daft to let the past prevent it. Who amongst us is perfect? Good luck to them both.

I hope she will be given the title, it is hers by right , I agree Charles wouldn’t have her snubbed , but she is a woman who
would choose not to take the title if it caused upset for her husband .

Think it would look pretty daft to have a Princess Consort next to a King, although I know it was a suggestion years ago.

Camilla, Queen Consort, would be fine. Charles won’t stand for her being sidelined, and why should she be?

Why is Camilla different to so many woman who have had a marriage breakdown and then becomes involved with a man who has had a marriage breakdown ?

Camilla has only "endured" what she brought on herself.

When Charles becomes King I do hope Camilla will be given the title Queen Consort as is her right, but when they married
some of the public were against her so it was said she would have the title ‘Princess Consort’, so wrong, but I doubt it will cause her distress after all she has endured.

Charles needs his time on the throne. He's been working towards it all his life and William needs time as Prince of Wales and all the other titles before he succeeds.

Those who think William should be 'fast tracked' are denying him essential experience and how would that affect poor little George who would have to become the heir far too soon?

I think Charles will make a good king, albeit in a different way to his mother perhaps. I also think Camilla will be a supportive consort.
He won’t abdicate to let William come to the throne earlier, and I am sure William doesn’t want the job any sooner than necessary.

He can’t avoid it but I think it will bring much hurt to him.

Some don’t want him as king because of Diana, some because of Camilla and some because of his age , they will want him to abdicate for William to take the crown.

So unfair, he cares deeply for this country and has been schooled for it since he was 3 years old.

I don't think Charles wants to be King if he can avoid it.

Getting back to the subject of the original post, i watched this program and throughly enjoyed it. It was gentle, an eye opener into another world for many of us and showed a side of Prince Charles that endorses how many people feel about the countryside, climate change, organic farming etc. Looking forward to watching the nex episode.

I think Harry is allowing Meghan to take the limelight at an event where she is the main speaker, not him.

I agree with Callistemon 100% - a balanced view of things. The RF does need to be slimmed down but give credit where it’s due and I think it’s due to PC. When the H and M do something credit worthy I hope we’ll respect them too - at the moment I’m in two minds about them ...

I feel strongly against men who control their wives, she stops mixing with her friends, wears clothes he approves of no matter if they are not her choice , we have all known them surely

For me it’s the same with Megan and Harry, since they have married , no Balmoral, no grouse shooting, isolated from his extended family, he even cancelled a rugby event to attend a premiere of The Lion King which happened to star one of her new bestie’s, Beyonce .

She even referred to her husband as ‘him’ in public. When has she used his Christian name ?

I also think the words heroes and villains are too extreme ... maybe we admire some members of RF on balance more than others but that may be that their track records are better than others. That’s not to say that newcomers can’t recover lost ground of course.....

Don’t we all Eloethan? Aren’t all opinions valid or only those which agree with your own? I’ve disagreed with Anniebach on some things but would never invalidate her opinion or her right to express it without fear of ridicule or disparagement. Sometimes we simply have to agree to differ.
