Sad wasn't it?

Very well done though.

Can't believe lovely little Sinead won't be in it anymore.

sad

Blanche was brilliant! Phyllis Pearce was good too. So many strong womens' characters in Corrie.

sodapop Mon 04-Nov-19 14:18:51

Think Shona is leaving soon to have her baby Jane10 not sure if its temporary or permanent.
I'm the same BlueBelle even though some of the stories are so silly I keep watching.
I like Maureen Lipman but Blanche was the queen of the acidic tongue in Corrie.

Gonegirl Mon 04-Nov-19 13:54:53

Ooh heck! I hadn't noticed!

Jane10 Mon 04-Nov-19 13:50:17

I like Gemma too. Her and Chesney are a great couple.
I'm sick of David and his ups and downs. When will anyone notice that Shona's pregnant?

Calendargirl

Oh well that sounds right! Another massive disaster waiting to happen .

Gonegirl Mon 04-Nov-19 09:50:42

I like Gemma. She's great. Good storyline. Best not take it too seriously though. grin

Gonegirl Mon 04-Nov-19 09:49:24

I'm quite surprised anyone can remember who is related to who. Blowed if I can.

Dolcelatte Mon 04-Nov-19 09:44:25

I recommend Classic Corrie, on every weekday and so, so much better!

Calendargirl Mon 04-Nov-19 09:42:47

And why have both Doctor Ali and Adam Barlow changed their hairstyles? Neither of them very flattering IMHO.

Calendargirl Mon 04-Nov-19 09:38:18

My sister thinks (not sure if she’s read it somewhere) that the nanny/home schooler is something to do with the Stapes family, Fizz’s terrible ex who is Hope’s biological father. Some dastardly revenge plot!

BlueBelle Mon 04-Nov-19 08:12:58

I do watch it’s like hypnotising but the storylines all of them are really naff and all the ones mentioned above are so so stupid
I do like Tyrones Nan (Maureen Lipman) but even how she came into their lives was totally daft
They try to do the up to date first world problems like Devs relationship with his self harming daughter but somehow they all come out as comedic situations
At the moment they have a child supposedly ADHD, with a dad in prison, running away another, self harming, yet another, gay who darent come out, we have the rape and injuries in the prison, we ve just got over trafficked girls, and an under age pregnancy, we have Tim’s dad causing a controlling domestic violence situation Dr Ali on drugs now Emma in the same hospital bed that is never cold, not to mention ‘the quads’ who were conveniently two boys and two girls ..near eh The engagement in the cable car was a stupid farce
Oh why do I watch this pantomime

Sara65 Mon 04-Nov-19 07:49:10

And whilst I’m having a moan, why doesn’t Fizz either stay or leave, that really is the most unrealistic situation, and I think I must have missed something, what’s the nanny up to, bedsides coming on to Tyrone?

Calendargirl Mon 04-Nov-19 07:21:34

It’s just on for too many episodes a week. They should be aiming for quality, not quantity.
I think that’s one reason why so many of the cast are either leaving or taking breaks.

crystaltipps Mon 04-Nov-19 07:09:16

I used to watch Corrie with my parents so I’ve watched it forever, but I agree the storylines are dire at the moment and I’m taking a break. As for Maria and Gary - she could do much better than any of the men she ends up with.

Sara65 Mon 04-Nov-19 07:05:12

The quads storyline is beyond stupid, the mother is an awful character, not remotely amusing, just plain revolting!

I’m sick to death of the David in prison/Max out of control storyline, I’m afraid I don’t like the new family, the sons are alright, but the parents are awful, and don’t get me going on the Tim’s dad storyline, but as I’ve been watching for 40+ years, I doubt I’ll stop now.

BlueBelle Mon 04-Nov-19 06:35:08

Has Daniel left ? I hope not I really liked his character
It tickles me how every character ALWAYS leaves in a taxi Never their car or someone else’s giving a lift or even a bus but always the back seat of the taxi
Yes the quads scenario is very unrealistic, laughable, slapstick that belly was at bursting point and popped them out like shelling peas They ll be walking next week

Jane43 Sun 03-Nov-19 13:34:16

Yes Emmerdale is even worse, Coronation Street did have occasional good episodes but Emmerdale is now about people getting away with serious crimes and being quickly forgiven and characters changing partners every so often. In both soaps characters’ personalities are changed and fanciful story lines have to be introduced for characters leaving or taking a long break.

sarahellenwhitney Sun 03-Nov-19 12:59:26

Enough doom and gloom in the world so for the present giving both Corrie and Emm a miss.

Calendargirl Sun 03-Nov-19 12:46:26

I agree about Gemma and the quads. The births not at all realistic, the world and his wife wandering into the nursery, wouldn’t four prem babies still be supervised much more, and as for her ghastly mother! ?

Where is the old boyfriend who abused Gemma’s brother? I expect he will pop up again soon unfortunately.

Jane43 Sun 03-Nov-19 12:27:27

I gave up watching this a couple of months ago but did watch the episodes leading up to Sinead’s death which were very good. The focus on Gemma and her quads over the past few months was the final nail in the coffin for me.

soop Mon 28-Oct-19 12:37:29

Sara Ditto.

Glammananna

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to read Bear Hunt again, without thinking about it.

glammanana Sun 27-Oct-19 16:25:46

I was touched by the scene when Daniel was reading to little Bertie and it was the last thing that Sinead saw before the end occured.

sodapop Sun 27-Oct-19 16:14:07

Yes I agree soop excellent handling of such a sad event.

soop Sun 27-Oct-19 13:13:47

I was moved to tears. Well written. Superb acting. I especially liked the moment when Daniel returned to his home and the empty bedroom, and suggested to baby Bertie that it was bathtime.
