Agree - thought it was lovely and warm and kind-hearted. But am I alone in feeling that Andrew got a rough deal? He is not the brightest jewel in the crown but is he the mindless playboy he has been painted? We hear zilch of the work he has done. And as Professor Dershowitz has pointed out, the emphasis throughout has been on whether he has told the truth, rather on his accuser's record- and she has been accused of lying, most recently in a book by Dershowitz, an Emeritus Harvard Professor. He speaks of guilt by accusation. Could this turn out to be another Carl Beech case? Is there a tendency to assume that a victim, or someone who presents as a victim, is always right, and that the powerful or famous they accuse - Ted Heath or Cliff Richard or the then dying Leon Brittan- are guilty until proved innocent? Dershowitz points out that the burden of proof should rest with the accuser. Is there a danger that it might be placed on the accused?
