Anyone else loving this or even bothering to watch ? I think it’s much better than the original just really easy watching. Mackenzie Crook is wonderful as Wurzel.

It’s a no from me Tanith - I loved Jon Pertwee, Una Stubbs etc and won’t be watching the second episode

aggie Fri 27-Dec-19 19:53:22

I am loving it

Septimia Fri 27-Dec-19 21:04:33

Nothing - not even Jon Pertwee - is as good as the book.

MiniMoon Fri 27-Dec-19 21:18:32

I really enjoyed the first episode. I'm looking forward to the next one. DH was out at work this evening, so I didn't watch it. We'll see it together tomorrow.

Callistemon Fri 27-Dec-19 21:41:05

We enjoyed it but where was Aunt Sally?

DH said she was in the museum but I must have nodded off at that point.

tanith Fri 27-Dec-19 21:47:26

She didn’t appear in the second episode Callistemon.

Callistemon Fri 27-Dec-19 21:49:19

Thanks, tanith I expected her to appear all the way through.

Both enjoyed it here.
Lovely adaptation and acting by Mackenzie Crook.
The children were great too.

Loved it!

I loved it I even managed to get a grumpy friend to watch and he loved it too.

I have never seen the John Pertwee version but I did read the books when I was very young and loved those.

The two children were really lovely and seemed to be enjoying themselves. `

I thoroughly enjoyed it and cant wait for more

I like it, and Mackenzie Crook was good as Worzel, BUT I prefer John Pertwee playing Worzel, with his daft walk, voice and expressions.

tanith Sat 28-Dec-19 09:51:02

I do hope they make more.

KatyK Sat 28-Dec-19 09:58:20

I thought it was clever and well acted but I prefer the Jon Pertwee one. When our DD was little, it was her favourite programme. We took her to the stage show and she met Jon Pertwee at a book signing. I haven't read the books so maybe this new one is closer to the books.

No not feeling it.

joannapiano Sat 28-Dec-19 10:46:15

I loved it. The Biker scarecrows really made me laugh.

vampirequeen Sat 28-Dec-19 11:46:55

We all absolutely loved it. Even our 11 year old took out his earphones and watched it.

Deedaa Sun 29-Dec-19 11:30:35

I thought it was lovely. McKenzie Crook is so good at this sort of thing.

Pudding123 Sun 29-Dec-19 15:59:23

Loved it ,McKenzie Crook is so talented, the scarecrow bikers gave me the Ebeegebers at first but they were comical at the end.I hope there are more episode's to come.

LadyGracie Sun 29-Dec-19 16:16:37

I loved it! I hope there's to be more.

Labaik Wed 01-Jan-20 21:37:01

Pudding; I agree; they really freaked me out. Even the nice lady scarecrow reminds me of a character out of 'The Living and the Dead', and I don't think I'd want my younger grandchildren to watch it. I did love it, though.

Grandma2213 Thu 02-Jan-20 11:12:58

I loved it. I didn't mean to watch it but was drawn in by the acting and the message. Mackenzie Crook said so much just with his eyes! I used to love the old one too but I thought this was an excellent reworking of it. The bikers were genius.

Ohmother Thu 02-Jan-20 12:00:12

Prefer JP’s Worzel as he seemed more rustic but MC’s is doing a fine job. Is MC going to change his heads like the old Worzel? The bikers were too scary for younger children I’m afraid.
