On holiday at the moment and after dinner we are too exhausted to do anything other than read or watch TV. We would appreciate recommendations on good programmes on Netflix as we have started watching several but given up.

The Kominsky Method with Michael Douglas is very good, a lot about the problems of getting old, funny and sad.

I joined up to Netflix only last week and so far have enjoyed The Stranger very much, and also Love is Blind, a reality show where people find partners by talking but without seeing them. Only when a proposal has taken place do they meet up. At the marriages a month later they decide whether to go ahead.
I have made a note of some of the recommendations, but I had planned not to renew every month. Binge-watching is a habit I don't want to get into! smile

Black List - James Spader is excellent
Suits - Meghan M is a bit girlie.

Scripts for both are well written

Better call Saul is very good. Shtisel about a controlling Jewish father and his efforts to get his son married is great too.

for those who enjoyed Stranger ,try Safe its really good keeps your interest right to the end and I thought the last episode was much better than the last one of Stranger .I felt that let the whole series down .

Thanks for the heads up about Chesapeake Shores Mollygo. We have spent a lot of time on Vancouver Island over the years and my sister-in-law decently returned from living there for thirty years so she will love to watch it.

Mollygo Tue 18-Feb-20 11:46:36

If you like family sagas, Chesapeake Shores was watchable and was filmed on Vancouver Island . . . if they make another season. . .
We really enjoyed Phryne Fisher Mysteries, though her loose morals surprised us for the time it was set in.
Virgin River was good but only one series so far.
We are currently watching Republic of Doyle and have The Stranger listed.

We are watching Benidorm yet again on Netflix and have laughed our heads off.

Lilypops Wed 12-Feb-20 17:31:03

I have just watched The Stranger I thought it was just brilliant , this is not a spoiler alert as it happened in the first episode, but , can anyone who watched it all tell me why Jennifer Saunders character Heidi was bumped off, I did try to keep up but I must have dropped off to sleep , either that or it was ever explained.

Daddima Tue 04-Feb-20 13:12:17

Daisymae I agree about The Stranger. I’m four episodes in, and still haven’t a clue what’s coming next!

Brunette10 Sat 01-Feb-20 21:36:04

Just finished Mrs Lowrie and Son, very good. Didn’t know very much about him as a person but thoroughly enjoyed the film. Quite sad though, he was obviously a loving son to his mother but yearned for her acceptance of his talent as an artist. Thanks for recommendation.

Australian series offspring is marvellous ...very addictive
