This is my favourite, from the Goons:

I hate vulgar sexual jokes, especially when females make them. It put me right off Sara Millican.

I'm not overly keen on Peter Kay.
He is a bit too gentle in his humour.

Billy Connolly. I can watch repeats numerous times and still laugh.
Peter Kay ditto.

I love Lee Mack and Sean lock (e?) in Would I Lie To You.

Lee Mack is such a clever liar too, because he never seems to know what he's talking about. grin

Dad's Army, the Likely Lads, Only Fools and Horses.....oh, dear, showing my age now. Used to like Dave Allen too, very funny and very fanciable.

Must don a tin hat and say I never, ever, found Victoria Wood amusing at all, but do think she was actually a good actress.

lemongrove Tue 14-Jan-20 21:21:10

Oops grin

On tv, Would I Lie To You ( consistently funny)
The Office ( both UK and US)
Ghosts (BBC recent comedy series)
Yonderland
Stella Street
Lead Balloon (Jack Dee)

Not a fan of stand up comedy, but Billy Connelly is naturally a funny guy, as is Paul Merton.
Laurel and Hardy have stood the test of time too.

Not a fan of The Goons at all, or Monty Python.

Ricky Gervais
Jo Brand - saw her before she was famous and seeing again soon .
Monty Python
Fawlty Towers
The Inbetweeners
Victoria Wood - saw her live twice and she was hysterical ( things she couldn’t say and actions she couldn’t do on the TV !)

I love Tim Vine's silly jokes.

joannapiano Tue 14-Jan-20 20:14:41

Tim Vine. Lots of silly jokes and playing with words. Never rude. We enjoyed seeing him on Countdown the other week.
He was funny when he was in Not Going Out with Lee Mack.

Jane43 Tue 14-Jan-20 20:05:30

Yes Sodapop I agree, Sarah Millican is funny too.

Jane43 Tue 14-Jan-20 20:04:39

I have to agree, Billy Connolly is very funny despite the constant swearing, his joke about he man who confessed to murdering his wife is one of the few jokes I can remember and always makes me smile. Dave Allen was also a very funny man and attractive too. Victoria Wood’s sketches and songs were very clever, such as Let’s Do It (not sure if that is the correct title). The Two Ronnies as well, we used to look forward to their shows. Yes The Goons were very funny, also early radio shows such as Round The Horn and Ray’s A Laugh. We used to enjoy watching The Young Ones when our boys were still at home and also Monty Python and Fawlty Towers. Peter Cook and Dudley Moore were also very funny, Dudley had trouble keeping from laughing a lot of the time. Modern comedians leave me cold except for Lenny Henry and Peter Kay. I recently watched After Life with Ricky Gervais and it was a mix of sad and funny but I do like black humour.

sodapop Tue 14-Jan-20 20:01:58

Just different sense of humour Fennel I don't find them funny either.
For me its
Victoria Wood
Angus Deayton
Dave Allan
The Two Ronnies
Sarah Millican

boheminan Tue 14-Jan-20 19:58:06

I loved 'Jam and Jerusalem' - a wonderful too short lived series and also The Detectorists.

Urmstongran Tue 14-Jan-20 19:54:07

Erm ‘not funny?’
?

Fennel Tue 14-Jan-20 19:50:46

Why don't people like the Goons and Monty Python ?
Too 'classist' ?
Too intuellectual ?
I can't think of any reasons.

Agree about Pam Ayres. She’s brilliant.

Vicar of Dibley

The Good Life

Would I lie to you.

Laughed a lot during the News Quiz on Radio 4 recently, but it isn’t always funny. Same with Have I Got News for You.

I used to love Round the Horne on the radio. As a child I can remember laughing until I was nearly sick at Laurel and Hardy at the News Cinema.

Monty Python, Goons.....No.

.

Fennel Tue 14-Jan-20 19:31:28

GagaJo - I see your point.
I must try to keep up to date.
But I was born in 1936.

Year 10 students (15 years old). They are so lacking in common sense and yet trying to be adults. They never fail to have me in stitches. Recent events have included:

Too much fake tan, resulting in a Tango effect.
'This glue stick's got pubes in it.'

Fennel Tue 14-Jan-20 19:12:49

Yes Victoria Wood, she's like this:
Pam Eyres - You should ask my Husband.
I tried to get the link but it didn't work.

jusnoneed Tue 14-Jan-20 18:54:28

Billy Connolly, Lee Evans.
I had a few laughs when watching a recent Sarah Millican programme.

Victoria Wood was good too.

Never found things like Goons or Monty Python funny.

PamelaJ1 Tue 14-Jan-20 18:34:57

Shysal- I agree would I lie to you is brilliant.
