Yes I wondered why such a short series as well BlueBelle I have to say as its gone along I feel its lost some of its spark now.

Loved the Happy Valley reference.

I didn't think Caroline was showing much authority in her new job and yes, that silly little voice is irritating.

She was unprofessional imo to invite that teacher to her home. Nasty response from the teacher though.

God, I love Happy Valley. Fantastic work.

This is dragging for me,the spark has gone.

I think Harrison is a brilliant little actor
I m afraid I thought the police woman scene really awful I was waiting for her to do knee bends with her hands hooked in her uniform and say ‘ello ‘ello ‘ello
Caroline s voice is a fair bit annoying and I don’t remember it being like that before
Why on earth such a short series it’s hardly got started

We need at least 20 more episodes. How on earth can it be wrapped up next week?! I wish Gillian's Robbie would come back. She needs cheered up.

Jane43 Mon 09-Mar-20 12:46:58

Several laugh out loud moments for me last night. The policewoman was enjoying her opportunity to score some points against Gillian and it made a great scene. Harrison was brilliant too, and I love his relationship with Alan, what a lovely man he is and I hope Celia gets to appreciate him more soon. It looks as if Celia’s insistence to have her new kitchen is going to backfire on her as well so she may get her comeuppance.

Janet43 How does he manage to look clean and tidy?

Jane43 Mon 09-Mar-20 12:40:10

I agree soop. Harrison is a great character and the young man playing him is doing an outstanding job.

soop Mon 09-Mar-20 12:05:26

I have a soft spot for Harrison. Excellent script writing.

I’m wondering how they will tie up all the loose ends in one episode next week.

Caroline’s silly little girl voice is really annoying me. Did she speak like that in the previous series? I hadn’t noticed it before.

I was a bit worried about ?Harrison cooking his tea in Alan & Celia’s shed - carbon monoxide poisoning? sad

I watched the Anne Reid who do you think you are because of the comments on here but didn't think she came across as grumpy, far from it in fact. She kept laughing at serious crimes and failed to see any flaws at all in her ancestors character. I was inclined to think "Daft old bat" quite frankly.

gillybob Mon 09-Mar-20 09:22:16

Maybe the little boy painted the giraffe mural (he seems to be living in Celia and Alan’s shed) . How in earth anyone would get scaffolding up and down during the night is beyond me. Maybe they had a sky hook ?

Caroline and Judith would make a great couple grin and John (the ex) could live with them ?

Would love to see my poor miserable namesake Gillian smile. Personally I think it’s the name. Maybe we are all misery guts.

Can’t believe even it’s finished next week though. It’s only just got started.

oldgimmer1 Mon 09-Mar-20 09:15:22

Ah - not Jo Joyner!! They DO look similar though (must get new glasses).

sodapop Mon 09-Mar-20 08:12:53

No, it was Rachel Leskovac not Jo Joyner.

Curlywhirly Mon 09-Mar-20 07:45:20

oldgimmer1 thanks, but I don't don't think it is Jo Joiner, although they do look similar.

Curlywhirly Mon 09-Mar-20 07:43:47

Calendargirl ah, I think you are right! Many thanks, was driving me mad last night?

Iam64 Mon 09-Mar-20 07:33:11

Great episode last night. I'm enjoying the slightly darker feel to this series. The humour runs through the themes of loss. No matter how hard they work or how much they long to be better than they ought to be - the wheel comes off.

Calendargirl Mon 09-Mar-20 07:32:41

Not sure where the storyline with the young lad is heading. Don’t find that very interesting.
And if Alan gossips away to every customer about what recipes they plan to cook with their purchases, he will have a big queue. Luckily the store looked very quiet, obviously no panic buying of loo rolls or hand gel going on there!

Calendargirl Mon 09-Mar-20 07:28:45

Did she play Nick Tilsley’s girlfriend in Corrie a few years ago, she was a hairdresser and pretended to be pregnant with his baby?

oldgimmer1 Mon 09-Mar-20 07:20:42

"What has the actress playing the police officer been in before? Her face is so familiar, but just can't place her."

Isn't it Jo Joyner? She's in practically everythinggrin.

I think she's been in EastEnders, Ackley Bridge, that programme about the detectives in Stratford...she's one of those "go-to" Northern actresses.

Curlywhirly Mon 09-Mar-20 06:52:46

Maggiemaybe Mon 09-Mar-20 06:33:30

Yes, I did. A nice touch, I thought!

Calendargirl Sun 08-Mar-20 22:06:33

Anyone else notice in tonight’s episode when that police officer referred to ‘Sergeant Cawood’ the character Sarah Lancashire played in Happy Valley?

Luckygirl Sun 08-Mar-20 17:19:17

I saw the episode and was deeply unimpressed with her - she just seemed rather silly really.

It is usually interesting to see people engage with their past; but she was just plain daft and rather grumpy.
