It’s just started and I’m liking it straightaway! Stellar cast. Imelda Staunton (love her). Francesca Anuns.

The series follows three adult siblings – Helen, Jake and Natalie – whose lives are thrown into disarray when their recently widowed mum Vivien declares she’s fallen for a new man, retired GP Mark.

As Vivien nears her 70th birthday, her children grow suspicious when Mark begins to shift her priorities away from her family.

Gorgeous location see the photo!

The last thing we all need is anti-climax grin

LullyDully Thu 27-Feb-20 19:13:41

Let's just hope the ending is worth all this speculation!

Sparklefizz Thu 27-Feb-20 18:31:37

"Deadwater Fell"

JandJ5years Thu 27-Feb-20 18:28:40

What was the David Tennant series called? I don’t think I saw it

suziewoozie Thu 27-Feb-20 17:58:21

Because she looked after them a lot when they were young

Callistemon Thu 27-Feb-20 17:58:17

Oh no. It could turn into a soap.

I'm glad it's on consecutive nights, not weekly!

storynanny Thu 27-Feb-20 17:57:06

But did she really have a baby who died? Why did she have a memory box of someone else’s children?

suziewoozie Thu 27-Feb-20 17:56:50

My main hope is that it ends - no Series 2 rubbish

storynanny Thu 27-Feb-20 17:55:38

I hope it doesn’t end with us not finding out who was in the bag!

suziewoozie Thu 27-Feb-20 17:44:14

I think some of you are being a bit hard on Mary. Were told that her baby died and husband left ( but I do wonder how she’s managed to carry on living there and maintaining herself). She was then very useful to the family for years - I think V is rather bitchy about her. If Mary has got her revenge, I hope she gets away with it. V is exactly the sort of drippy woman I can’t stand.,

Callistemon Thu 27-Feb-20 17:43:56

Although I do seem to have some of my DC's things at our house, I haven't kept any clothes from when they were that young.
Does anyone?

storynanny Thu 27-Feb-20 17:43:26

I wonder if the granddaughter is something to do with it?

Callistemon Thu 27-Feb-20 17:41:31

Calendargran, thanks, that figures with her rather elaborate hair!

threexnanny it was suggested upthread that Mary was making a quilt from the children's clothes.
People do that, making memories.

LullyDully Thu 27-Feb-20 17:39:24

Perhaps the first husband has a love child but who could it be????

Bellanonna Thu 27-Feb-20 17:06:25

Good explanation re the glass bottle Urmston.
If Mary was actually guilty would they make it look as though she could be? Red herring I think.

Yehbutnobut Thu 27-Feb-20 16:36:56

I reckon Mary tried to kill Vivien! Pure jealously and rejection.

threexnanny Thu 27-Feb-20 14:53:30

I want to know why Mary was cutting-up the bag of charity clothes and then stitching them together again. Also looks like she will wear one of Vivien' s cast- offs to the party, but how did it fit her?

Lisagran Thu 27-Feb-20 12:53:25

Oh I hope it has a good ending !!

Calendargirl Thu 27-Feb-20 12:05:48

Callistemon

I think in the first episode it was said Vivien had a hairdresser business.

Callistemon Thu 27-Feb-20 11:07:20

Urm wink
Who knows what he was up to?

Urmstongran Thu 27-Feb-20 11:04:39

whilst their Dad was busy elsewhere is that a euphemism Calli?
?

Bellasnonna I think the smashed perfume bottle was just Mary impulsively having a joke, putting the wind up Mark. It would me anyway! She’s getting quite daring with her norty behaviour - was she always like this, snooping? Probably. She inveigled herself into this family, wanting to be part of it and now she’s terribly jealous that Mark has the upper hand. She wants him to know he has met his match.

Callistemon Thu 27-Feb-20 10:40:01

Because the whole lot of them are dysfunctional, Pittcity and Mary more or less brought them up whilst their Dad was busy elsewhere and their mother worked.

What was her job, I wonder?
Is that significant?

Sparklefizz Thu 27-Feb-20 10:37:57

What's the attraction in Mary's greenhouse ? Poison plants?

Or just a good viewing point to watch the comings and goings at Vivien's house?

They've all got issues haven't they ?

It would be boring if they hadn't! grin

Bellanonna Thu 27-Feb-20 10:35:53

Can anyone explain why Mary smashed that glass object on the floor?

Pittcity Thu 27-Feb-20 10:34:29

The hypocrisy infuriates me. Why is the son angry at his wife for dating while he is playing away for money? Why was the younger sister upset over her brother-in-law's supposed infidelity while she is trying to break up a marriage and a family herself?
Aaaaargh!
