Belgravia

I only watch it for the costumes and settings. I think Julian Fellows is resting on his laurels with this. Good actors but nothing to get their teeth into. I accept the basis of the storyline but the lack of depth makes it feel like a penny novelette.

I agree with the stilted dialogue which I think the actors are finding difficult to express themselves with.

Yes of course I will continue watching it for something light and silly at the end of the weekend.

I agree about language used being a bit anachronistic
I’m watching it but it’s actually a bit boring ...but then I found Downton boring, only watched it sometimes, for the beautiful costumes

I'm enjoying Belgravia just for the light entertainment. I hadn't even thought about the script.

I gave up on Sandford after 2-3 episodes.

I loved Downton at the beginning but thought it was becoming a bit of a parody towards the end - the storylines were raced through in an episode and no-one aged at all! Some of the acting was truly dreadful to the point that it reminded me of the French and Saunders Comic Relief skits ‘Upstairs Downstairs Abbey’ (which are hilarious if you haven’t seen them )

If I hadn't watched three episodes back to back I might not have bothered to watch after the first episode but I was quite hooked by the end of episode three. Kept me entertained through a marathon ironing session.

The same happened with Sandford - I was so (not) gripped by the first two episodes I forgot all about it and never bothered to watch anymore. Maybe I'll go back and give it another go if it's still available to watch.

Downton Abbey was very well written and produced. This production is strangely dull and strikes many wrong notes.

It's not supposed to be Downton Abbey though, is it ?

I’ve just finished reading the book, sadly didn’t find last night’s episode very interesting as I now know what happens!

I’m slowing down with it definitely not downtown abbey material.struggling with its pace anyone else feel the same?

I enjoyed Sandford more than Belgravia. Unbelievable!

I’m enjoying it. I just realised this morning when watching the latest episode that Oliver was the original Prince Harry in the Windsors!

I’m enjoying it more each week, with all its intrigue and pretty frocks and handsome cads and plotting and scheming and beautiful sets - what’s not to love on a Sunday night as a way of distracting yourself from the working week ahead? Perfect!

I know what you mean about the language but I’m just enjoying it on a very shallow level.

I feel sorry for Mr Pope, because he’s unaware of why the younger generation are ‘hating on him’!

I'm just following the storyline more than anything as I can't wait to see all their faces when the truth comes out about Mr Pope.

I'm really struggling to enjoy it despite liking both the female leads.
It's the transposing of modern English to Victorian times that sticks in my throat. Eg 'Be my guest', 'What time are you heading' and 'Took a shine to'. Yes I'm being pedantic but they've taken so much trouble with the look of the programme and good casting that it's a pity the script is so weak.

I caught up with the first three episodes this evening. Very entertaining and funny, too. ‘Two of my children I positively dislike.’

Still love it. I like the developing interaction between the aristocracy and the nouveau riche.

I was thinking that Debbie Aldridge living in Belgravia must please Jennie immensely

Waterloo Ball didn't feel right without Becky Sharp and a sprinkling of Crawleys and Sedleys, but it's improving.

Watched second episode tonight and still love it. Was easy to guess what had happened with the daughter though.

Just watched episode 2, enjoyed it.
Was pleased to see the book on the shelf at the library last week, before so much isolation kicked in, was surprised someone else hadn’t borrowed it, will try and get some read ahead of next week’s episode.

I think I'd seen too many spoilers. Didn't feel very original to me. A cross between Vanity Fair and Barbara Cartland. Good cast though. Will persevere.

Easy viewing for Sunday nights.

Forgot to say I enjoyed it. It improved as it went along.
