Seeing as we're all staying in a little lot more, we'd imagine the telly is getting a fair amount of attention. If you want to chat about whatever you're watching while it's on (or the next day) please do check our Telly forum topic and join in if there's already a conversation running. If not, why not start one? There's almost certainly someone else on here who's watching alongside you and would love the opportunity to dissect the plot/suggest whodunnit/debate actor's suitability to role/just want to say they love or hate it. grin

We watched the second part of Bears about the House too.

pensionpat Wed 22-Jul-20 22:45:48

Lucca. She doesn’t!

Lucca Wed 22-Jul-20 22:18:36

I watched the second “Bears about the house” documentary about rescuing sun bears (and moon bears, I’d never heard of them before) in Laos. Marvellous programmes.

Incidentally I noticed Judy Murray is now on celebrity master chef, let’s hope she cooks better than she dances.....

Three Billboards is a great film.

I watched Gone Girl tonight. Very dark

MayBee70 Wed 22-Jul-20 21:54:00

She did, deservedly, did win an Oscar. She’s married to one of the Coen brothers

Auntieflo Wed 22-Jul-20 18:10:35

I recorded, or thought I had, Three Billboards film.

When we went to play it back, all we got was the intro, then a black screen.

The Humax recorder has been playing up, so we have ordered a new one. Sorry to miss it, but hope we can get it on catch up.

If you want to watch a really good documentary there is a new starting on Netflix tonight called Fear City. It's meant to be fantastic - can't wait to settle down with a G & T to watch it.

This is a good thread I would miss a lot of good stuff if I didn’t come on here. I rarely watch much television this time of year, but if there is something good I like to see it.

Thanks for the Billboards recommendation. I started watching it last night. I think Frances Dormand won an Oscar for it, didn't she? It's good to see an actress with a face untouched by plastic surgery.

Yes I totally agree. Very moving and funny too. As you say, the acting’s amazing.

MayBee70 Tue 21-Jul-20 13:45:52

One of the best films I’ve seen in recent years. Terrific acting.

I watched 3 Billboards in Epping, Missouri last night. It’s a film on Ch 4 catchup. I loved it.

I watched most of The Merchant of Venice, but I am so, so tired of all the clever business the directors inflict on their actors; too much capering about the stage and gabbling of lines, instead of simply speaking them clearly, and acting. The older actors outstrip the younger ones every time. And the irritating special effects; a reflective backdrop and a very distracting silver ball, pendulum, which swung across the stage to suggest the passage of time, I think.

I recorded and watched Cranford. More next Sunday.

Tonight I shall watch my recording of the third episode of Jimmy's Forest, which I am enjoying very much. I remember seeing him (Jimmy Doherty) on TV for the first time when he set up his pig farm with hardly any knowledge or experience. He is an enterprising lad who has made a very successful business out of it. He went to school with Jamie Oliver.

I watched Thelma and Louise from a few days ago.I laughed out loud at a few of the scenes especially at the tanker exploding. Can't understand why I didn't watch it when it was first shown. Tonight I may watch Cranford which I'm recording at the moment. Will save Downton abbey until Thursday.

I watched "Hope Springs" starring Meryl Streep on Amazon Prime. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can recommend it for easy watching.

I watched a programme about the making of a Morgan sports car. This appealed to me because they are made in Worcestershire where I was brought up and also because when I was about 18 I went out for a while with a boy who had a Morgan. I had no idea it was such an expensive car at the time, to me it was just a car that messed up my hair. I have just started watching Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri on Channel 4, my granddaughter tells me it is very good.

We watched A Greek Odyssey with Bettany Hughes.

May7 Fri 17-Jul-20 19:33:18

Esspee I watched it a few weeks ago and it greatly disturbed me too. I was just waiting for the Maxwell woman to be arrested. Disgusting the lot of them.

travelsafar Fri 17-Jul-20 18:56:58

I will watch Gardeners World, followed by the program aabout the North Yorkshire Moors. Watched this afternoon a history program on catch up about the History of Slavery, it made feel ashamed to be British, the terrible things the plantation oners did to some of he slaves.

Esspee Fri 17-Jul-20 15:44:55

Last night we watched Jeffrey Epstein - Filthy Rich on Netflix.

It is haunting me today, I simply cannot get it out of my mind and my other half has been similarly affected. The number of girls involved is nigh unbelievable. The unwillingness of the authorities to prosecute despite enough evidence, preposterous.

Let us hope the Maxwell woman gives evidence against all the men involved and they end up rotting in jail with her.

Callistemon Fri 17-Jul-20 10:54:44

NanKate

Maigret mes enfants.

It's good but I think I prefer the originals with Rupert Davies. Perhaps I can't get Mr Bean or Blackadder out of my mind!
His wife is excellent, played by Lucy Cohu.

MayBee70 Thu 16-Jul-20 23:52:30

Never make a point of watching it but if I’m channel hopping and first date comes on I have to watch it to the end and then probably watch the beginning on catchup which I’m about to do now.
