I watched The Damned United last night on i-player. I mostly watched for Martin Sheen who is a great actor. I actually enjoyed it (and I don't like football). But there in the part of a young footballer, all chubby cheeked and longhaired I saw Martin Compston. It was a small part. So I just wondered when you are watching old TV and films who have you spotted in a bit part who later made it big?

Oh I must look for that...I do like him. I was reading that he used to be a professional footballer.

My daughters friend is an actress, she works in theatre mainly ,I've never seen her work.I had the TV on in the background when I heard a voice I thought I knew and there she was 25 years ago as a nurse in an old TV drama .She didn't know it was on and went searching for it to show her children after I told her .

The Deerhunter in the early hours of this morning - Robert de Niro and Meryl Streep - though actually Robert de Nero was the star part so it doesn’t really count.

Fairy Tale: A true story

The film is the story of the Cottingley Fairies. Frances (one of the little girls) is waiting for her father to return from the war. At the end she opens the front door to find him there. It's Mel Gibson. Even though he was already famous when the film was made he doesn't have a speaking role and is uncredited.
