I found Lara’s thread very useful and it was very popular so, as Lara hasn’t started a new thread I have.

Any suggestions on what to watch tonight gransnetters?

Finishing the series on Netflix called Ozarks, then revisiting The Kominsky Method. I'm addicted to it!

I’m watching the Maggie Hambling programme too, because I love her sculpture Scallop on Aldeburgh beach. I can’t say I take to her as a person, though.

Episode 1 of The West Wing
It’s still brilliant

Just watched a film on Prime called About Time. It was enchanting, different and very enjoyable. If you want something to take your mind of the troubles in the world today this should do the tricksmile

The West Wing is now free on Channel 4 catchup, so I am already up to episode six.

Thank you.

If I recall the book Us rightly it's mentioned that they lost a daughter, Albie is their second child I believe.

Tonight I hope to watch 'Honour' though I expect it'll be quite distressing but hopefully a good drama.

sodapop sorry
Although sidapop sounds like ciderpop

Regarding 'Us' Callistemon I think I caught an inference that they had a child before Albie who died. Not entirely sure though.

Thanks sidapop that may have been mentioned during the 10 minutes when I nodded off!

Not too hard to work out.
It is if you fall asleep

I thought they referred to a daughter, who hadn’t survived, in the first episode?
I’m wondering if Albie is adopted?
Or if the mother had an affair and Albi was the result?
Or had a sperm donor father but his mother is his natural mother? (they “get” each other, he is blonde as she used to be?)

Perhaps that’s why he has no empathy with his “dad”?

Alegrias Mon 28-Sept-20 08:37:03

Their first child was a girl. Albie is a boy. Not too hard to work out. Although I suppose Albie could be trans, but unlikely.

Marmight - I have just finished watching the Haitink programme - what a truly extraordinary man; not just as a musician.

I also watched the BBC4 programme on black composers, which was fascinating. I have been investigating women composers and they featured Florence Price, a black American composer from |I believe late 19th/early 20th century - I love her music.

Me too! They’re on the river Wye tonight.

Oh, missed it!
We were catching up with part 1 of Us.

Is it me or do they seem rather old if the baby born just after their marriage is Albie, age 17? They looked to be in their early 20s then.
They both look to be well in their 50s now.

Thank you YorkLady for reminding me that it was on tonight. And yes I’ll watch iPlayer catch up once I’m home in Manchester. I’d best start a list.

Aw, it was the last in series! I don’t watch much tv and I think I’ve only seen one other episode!
☹️
Stunning scenery. Nice touch chatting with the doc about ‘men’s health’. Caught a fish each too! ‘then I let it go again ...’ ? ?

If you have access to iPlayer, all the episodes are on there.
It’s a relaxing half hour of friendship.

Enola on Netflix is quite good. Sherlock Holmes's younger sister.
