I found Lara’s thread very useful and it was very popular so, as Lara hasn’t started a new thread I have.

Any suggestions on what to watch tonight gransnetters?

Kamiso It was a very pleasant show to watch. Fully recommend it when you get linked up.

Finally got there so will watch later. Two visits from inside engineers and one from an outside engineer but never the twain shall meet. Also numerous buck passing phone calls.

Finally sorted by DD1. My friend ordered hers mid August and finally got it up and running two days ago! Her OH had a light bulb moment and changed the batteries in the remote. She now has two spare bt boxes.

I could watch her time after time
Julia Mackenzie - dreadful
Geraldine McEwan - worse ?
Joan hickson is Irreplaceable except possibly by Julie Walters ?

I shall watch Miss Marple on Drama, which will fill most of the evening.

Have seen it so many times I feel like one of the cast......

Ah but which miss marple. I can’t bear to watch anyone but Joan Hickson in the role !

Yes, Joan Hickson is the ‘one and only’ Miss M.

Watched Channel 5 prog about Center Parcs last night, as we'd had quite a few holidays with children and one grandchild there and some lovely memories from those time.

After that, at 9 pm BBC2 something entirely different, Simon Schama on the "Romantics", I like reading about Byron, Keates et al. Very interesting lots of parallels with the present time.

The million pound winner is a history teacher at GS1’s school and a very popular one at that. He’s staying on to see his A level group through next year. His wife is a nurse. His brother won £500,000 on a quiz just months ago. Good feeling when the life changing money goes to someone who will apparently use it wisely.

We didn’t get to see it as still battling with our change from Virgin to BT. Wishing we had just paid the 25% increase. My friend’s changeover took 4 weeks so we may have a way to go now.

Gogglebox is back tonight.

Callistemon Fri 11-Sept-20 17:33:53

Do you think they broadcast WWTBAM out of sequence?
It's very convenient to have a big winner in the last episode, and not someone who crashes out after getting the £100 question wrong!

It wouldn't be me as I know nothing about American football.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Fri 11-Sept-20 16:55:29

Although I will be interested to see if I know the answers Merlot as then I can imagine myself with the million, ha ha.

merlotgran Fri 11-Sept-20 12:55:31

I feel the same. What's the point in watching? There won't be any nail biting anticipation.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Fri 11-Sept-20 12:20:17

Tonight I'll watch the usual Gardener's World, then Millionaire on ITV plus 1 as it half clashes - or maybe I'll miss the second part as I believe Monty will be going on about compost. I've been told it's very difficult to produce this well in a tiny garden so it'll be of little no benefit.

I feel a little aggrieved that we know in advance that there'll be a top prize winner on the latter as it's spoiled the anticipation. Plus, of course a little cross that it's not me. Anyone else feel the same way?

I’ve got a “friend” like that, too, annep1. Depressing isn’t it.
I’m currently enjoying a Montalbano fest on iPlayer (the older character).

annep1 Tue 08-Sept-20 23:27:19

Love Montalbano old and young.
Tonight we watched three episodes of Modern Family. Needed a laugh after a "friend" rang to tell me all the new cases of coronavirus in my area. If I really wanted to know I would watch the news.

Bellanonna Tue 08-Sept-20 23:19:04

It was good, too!

merlotgran Tue 08-Sept-20 13:22:38

All Creatures Great and Small, of course.

Can't wait!

Caught up with Strike and also watched Sue Perkins programme last night about the border cities either side of the dividing wall between Mexico and the US. I was interested having spent some time in San Diego and whilst there we did drive the few miles down to the border with the intention of doing the crossing to Tijuana, but the queues were too long, I think it's one of the busiest border crossings in the world. That was back in the nineties, apparently around the time the wall started under the Clinton administration, but beefed up with Trump as we know. Some heart breaking stories first from the migration perspective but also families that had become separated, one family featured had been like this for 30 or so years, reminiscent of the Berlin Wall. They could have a very limited meet up either side of the divide, where they go to this certain point and touch fingers through a miniscule space, but that was it, very sad. Interestingly lots of pensionable age Americans go over to Mexico to live, a better and cheaper lifestyle. One town in particular, on the Mexican side is where Americans go over for their dental work, where I think it was quoted, they pay a third of what they would pay back over their side.

Came across a series called Urban Secrets on Sky ,its Alan Cummings visiting cities and finding unusual or special things about them.Sadly I found it on episode 7 Dublin and watched that one and episode 8 Glasgow ,both were lovely wee quirky informative programmes.I've downloaded the rest to watch later .Well worth a look and quite funny too. It a few years old so some of the things are a wee bit different ,the Panopticon in Glasgow is much further on the road to refurbishment for example .Still a good easy watch .

Well I loved 'All creatures great and small' or as the two Ronnies called it 'All creatures grunt and smell'!
I also really enjoyed 'Harlots'. Lesley Manville must love this great change of role for her.

travelsafar Thu 03-Sept-20 08:37:24

I watched The Harlots last night series 2. I really enjoy this bawdy look at life, it has some really good actresses, especailly Lesley Maniville. She plays her role perfectly with lots of great facial expressions and gestures with her hands.

I loved Our Yorkshire Farm. I hope there will be another series before too long.

Deedaa Wed 02-Sept-20 19:15:56

Channel 5 seems to vary between very good and absolutely dire. When they are good they are very good!

travelsafar Wed 02-Sept-20 08:40:54

I was based in Yorkshire last night!!!smile watched the Yorkshire Vet then All Creatures Great and Small. Loved both programs. Looking forward to Thursday on Ch 5 as they are showing a new program about an Elephant Hospital which looks right up my street. Ch5 seem to be coming up with some lovely programs lately including of course the series Our Yorkshire Farm which has now finished but was very much enjoyed.
