I found Lara’s thread very useful and it was very popular so, as Lara hasn’t started a new thread I have.

Any suggestions on what to watch tonight gransnetters?

We are working our way through all the series of Line of Duty (available on BBC iplayer). They all looked so much younger in the first episodes. We really enjoyed seeing Keeley Hawes as Detective Inspector Lindsay Denton (series 2 & 3).

I've heard the new series is being broadcast soon - anyone know the exact date?

Also like A Suitable Boy and Mrs America
I've recorded Harlots - has anyone watched that?

Aah Yes! The jump suit did rather play a part. grin

Very sexy song though and without the vocal acrobatics you would no doubt get today.

I’m not finding a lot I want to watch at the moment, only one or two things. That has resulted in me watching quite a few of the Married at First Sight: Australia. It’s complete rubbish really, but I like it!

I adore Morse. The Remorseful Day was on a channel this week and I watched it again - hoping that he didn’t die this time! ☹️ “Thank Lewis for me”

What jumpsuit??? ????

Well, it looked like a sort of sequinned scarlet jumpsuit to me! I know my eyes need testing, but....
Will definitely have to watch it again!!!

(Perhaps not sequins, but sort of a lurex material, and a diamond necklace)

Couldn’t miss it, made Shirley look drab by comparison!

The Bridge (Scandi crime on BBC4) episode every night on catch up.

I do increasingly like anything with subtitles - no straining to decipher the all too frequent mumbling in home-grown productions.

All Scandi crime seems to be universally grey and dismal, but if you can get past that the stories are usually good.

We're watching Burley Chassis at the BBC on BBC4. Seen it before but some great footage of bygone days.

Oh, that duet with Neil Diamond. Be still my beating heart! blush

Started watching this last night after Merlotgran’s post. Neil’s scarlet jumpsuit ensemble was eye catching, but I agree about the duet, might have to re-watch it.

Two great voices together, seemed very into each other.

It was the “Goodbye Sir” that got me.

I've just watched the Judge Rinder programme too - very well done and very moving.
I was interested in the part about his maternal grandfather's psychiatric problems - as a student I worked in the Friern Hospital for a month, in the mid '50s. There were many Jewish patients, mostly traumatised by war or other persecution. Choice of treatments was very limited in those days. But the staff were mostly compassionate.

We too watched The Remorseful Day, the end was so touching. I believe that John Thaw was quite ill by that time and so it seems even more poignant.

Otherwise, we are bingeing on Waking The Dead on i-player; my word, it's good! Absorbing storylines, great acting, and it's interesting to see the big names/future big names in the cast lists: recently we had Corin Redgrave and Patricia Hodge, then Anton Lesser (my beloved Mr. Bright from Endeavour) and Cheri Lunghi ... and above all the great and glorious Trevor Eve, utterly mesmerising.

I sat with a huge smile on my face as i watched Our Yorkshire Farm. The scenes of the children gambling over the moors searching for bird eggs and lost lambs, it filled my heart with so much joy. How i would treasure those films when i got older if i were one of those children. I just loved their reward, an evening swim in the local stream. Pure magic. Hope they do another series.

I watched WDYTYA about Judge Rinder. I saw it the first time round but I like him and wanted to see it again. He seems a lovely man with a warm and lovely family. Very moving.

maddyone Tue 25-Aug-20 23:31:17

I watched Who Do You Think You Are? It was about Judge Rinder and was indeed very moving, as others have said.

paddyanne Tue 25-Aug-20 23:27:02

Phew, that was an emotional rollercoaster (The Remorseful Day). We’ll save the WDYTYA for another day, I think.

It was, wasn't it!
John Thaw looked quite ill in that final episode; I wonder if he actually was or makeup and excellent acting.

Marmight Tue 25-Aug-20 22:42:55

Watched Our Yorkshire Farm - the last one of the series. Home filmed during lockdown with all the children having a go! Little Clemmie is definitely the star ?. What an amazing, idyllic life they lead

merlotgran Tue 25-Aug-20 22:12:42

I'm going to miss my weekly fix of Our Yorkshire Farm.

I went with the Judge Rinder episode of ‘who do you think you are’, very moving.

There are a couple of good blasts from the past on tonight. The Who Do You Think You Are? Judge Rinder episode’s on BBC1, but I think we’re going to watch the last ever Inspector Morse with John Thaw from 2000. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen it. hmm

Just watching Morse.

What a superb actor John Thaw was.

Such a loss.

Maggiemaybe Tue 25-Aug-20 12:17:24

I’ll have the tissues ready then, Lucca. sad

Lucca Tue 25-Aug-20 12:14:59

Oh it’s so sad Maggie maybe
