I didn't know that Alexa until I read the other thread. Sad, but nice that she was working until recently.

I missed the first episode as I thought it was just repeats. Then recorded the second episode, and watched the first on Catch-up.
Absolutely, excellent, light entertanment at its best - just what we all need at this time.,

I didn’t see the first series but I’ve just watched the first two episodes with my dd. We both loved it and will be watching the rest.

No.not for me! Mrs Hall is far too young and behaves too much like a member of the family, Tristan is so dull and slightly morose, James? Siegfried okish, but not a patch on Robert Hardy. As for Mrs pompfrey? Oh no! Not a patch on the original.

Watched it on catch-up after reading the good reviews and loved it! That's Tuesday evenings sorted then.

Ha ha, yes Sue, but they are so gentle. I've had five now, the first one used to carry our kids on his back and another one was called The Lion Dog by friends.
Not much room on the sofa though of an evening!

I could see the sofa problem even on the TV, Elianne! They are gorgeous dogs. Our neighbour has one, he’s about five years old now, and a friend has another. They do seem to think they are eternal puppies though and need to sit on your lap!

I am really enjoying this - the acting, the scenery, the dialogue and the situations.
It feels very authentic to me and in a way not unlike The Durrells (and not just because of the actor who plays Tristan))

I’m loving it, too. It was very brave of them to remake an iconic series like ACGAS but they went for it and they’ve nailed it. Didn’t one channel make a series about James Herriottsstudent days that wasn’t all that good.

I was following Samuel West on Twitter while they were making this series. They had a lot of with endless rain when they were trying to film outdoor scenes.

I feel quite upset to think that next week is the final episode. I’m sure there will be another series, but when?

Does any one remember the Two Ronnies, where they once did a sign off along the lines of "And next week we will be featuring the memoirs of a disillusioned vet, entitled "All Creatures Grunt and Smell"?

Still finding Tristan irritating rather than endearing. He doesn't have Peter Davison's charm.

Otherwise it's thoroughly enjoyable.

I have really enjoyed it all except I do find the actor playing Tristan irritating . He’s so lazy he really annoys me

Grandma70 I noticed that in this week’s episode the show took place in rather wet surroundings. Still, it is Yorkshire.

In other news, my neighbours have acquired a gorgeous 12wk old Retriever puppy! She is absolutely beautiful and I need to come up with a Covid-rules-compliant reason to go and cuddle her. ?

I get irritated by the (very young) housekeeper - she acts as if she owns the place and throws her weight about -"I will not put up with that kind of behaviour under my roof" she said to Tristan. Her roof? I don't think so!
And I agree Tristan is so annoying - but then he was as Lesley in "The Durrells"
So I am not sorry it is coming to an end - my enjoyment of it has come to an end too!!

What a refreshing change to have such a delightful programme to watch.Love it! I’m not too keen on the new Tristan , but apart from that Imthinkmthe casting is excellent. Remember the second Poldark series? Who knew that Aidan what’s his name could be as good as Robin Ellis?

Well, I have ‘ hung on in there’, but it’s still not for me. I don’t feel the changes made to the stories in the book ( and in the original TV series) served any purpose, like the inclusion of Mrs Hall’s son, and I agree she is much too prominent!
I can’t really take to any of the characters, but, again, this might be because I felt the previous actors captured them perfectly.

As someone who used to be involved in the horse world, I had to laugh at James and the measuring stick. It’s straight out of real life, even today!

Oh, I really like Mrs Hall. She needs to keep them in order. I don't know how she finds time to do everything though, they neerclift a finger.

That’s exactly what I think.Davison gave the character charm and self doubt as well as optimism.The new actor plays him as a hooray henry.
I don’t particularly like the new James Herriot either tbh but Sam West is wonderful as Siegfried.
The housekeeper has more prominence as a character in this new reworking, for some unknown reason.
All other actors are very good, and the scenery is the same?

Why does autocorrect change things to weird words?
I noticed that it changed mid-forties to mid-thirties but I changed that back again.
