I love Cormarin and Robin but is anyone else finding the plot very far fetched it’s almost silly ....
but I ll keep watching because ....

I think the plot is largely immaterial, I'm watching Cormoran smile

Snap. blush

The plot is completely daft. I’ll just search for clues while everyone parties around me - oh, here’s one! We’ll just rock up to the hotel I conveniently drove past and noticed the name of two years ago and see if the manager will divulge details of his guests - oh yes, he has! I’ll go undercover as a trade unionist’s daughter from the north, but won’t bother giving them a name that fits that, I’ll be fine just using my own surname - oh, they’ve googled me! The Secret 7 books were more realistic. grin

Yet I’m still looking forward to the last episode.

DH has recorded this-shan’t watch it now! Too much (repeat) telly anyway

I agree about the darkness that often seems to happen I always use sub titles for dramas but it’s the plot that’s so far fetched thats annoyed me that scene in the parliamentary rooms with her fixing bugs while people were coming and going was laughable ...as if
Then she found Jimmy s girlfriend and got a job just like that and invited to a party where she found the note ...honest a kid would have written better then she completely outruns a man who is conveniently knocked over by a police car oh pleeeeze .will she escape to Cormran s arms now she s left Matt .? Or will that be the next cliff hanger to make you read the next book churned out

I understand what you’re saying BlueBelle, but it’s all whizzed along on the tv, in the book it makes more sense how she placed the bugs, landed the job, found the note etc.

Last night it all happened over a few minutes, which doesn’t give you the easing into the plot as you’re reading.

And I may have remembered this incorrectly, but I don’t think in the book she gave her name, they didn’t check her background, that chase didn’t happen.

Think this was put in to add to the drama, but as I say, might be me not recalling it properly.

I've read the books. Really didn't like The Silworm at all.

With Lethal White on TV, it is so dark I can hardly see what's happening. Cormoran is just gorgeous so I'm happy with that!!

I like the romantic link with Robin. Otherwise I could take it or leave it.

CassieJ Mon 07-Sept-20 09:56:16

I gave up with it. I wanted to like it, but just didn't.

Namsnanny Mon 07-Sept-20 10:11:03

I side with those who said the plot was unrealistic. Too much one dimensional bias.
In fact nearly everything about it is a let down, apart from the two main actors. Even then I feel there is no actual sexual tension between the characters
Would it even be entertained if the writer was unknown?

Jane43 Mon 07-Sept-20 11:51:28

I watched the first three episodes yesterday and enjoyed the story line and the characters very much. I’m looking forward to watching the other episodes on iPlayer.

Witzend Mon 07-Sept-20 11:56:57

Was going to watch it, not sure now!

We’ve just been watching the first series of The Bridge on catch up, which I enjoyed at first, but the plot seemed to be getting more and more convoluted and harder to follow (especially if I’ve nodded off on the sofa!) and frankly just too far fetched.

A catch-up watch we did really enjoy - not too drawn out or convoluted - was What Remains, but that was a while ago now.

Just wanted to say that JKR donates all monies received in connection with The Strike books etc to injured servicemen. And if I had to look for something small a woman had hidden, the sanitary protection would be my first port of call, especially if hiding the item from a bloke. Lethal White was not my favourite of the four books but I love the two main characters.

BlueBelle Mon 07-Sept-20 16:04:07

I think most of us agree we love the main characters but think the plot and storyline is too fanciful and unbelievable to enjoy
Ahh well I ll just look at Comoran then

Years ago, in ‘Bouquet of Barbed Wire’, ( the raunchy Andrea Newman story), one of the characters talked about hiding stuff in her tampax box or similar, to foil any burglars.

Maggiemaybe Mon 07-Sept-20 17:19:02

Well I’m glad about the charitable donation. That’s a very good reason, if one were needed, to watch the last episode and even to look out for the next series and to see a lot more of Cormoran

sodapop Mon 07-Sept-20 17:23:46

Sorry kittylester I saw him in an Hercule Poirot film, so there ya boo grin

Tea3 Mon 07-Sept-20 18:46:43

Yes, Calendargirl I read Bouquet of BW fifty (!) years ago. That particular detail must have made a lasting impression even though I remember nothing of the novel.

Luckygirl Mon 07-Sept-20 18:59:33

I have given up on it now.

Deedaa Mon 07-Sept-20 20:18:06

Strike suffers from the same problems as the Harry Potter films. They always have to cut out so much of the plot to make it fit the time available that it's like watching a shorthand version of the book. If you haven't read the books it must be very difficult to work out what's happening because really important chunks of plot get left out. I've just read that the next book is 966 pages! Longer than The Mirror And The Light!

Nandalot Mon 07-Sept-20 23:50:04

Well, we are enjoying it and looking forward to the next (last?) episode. I agree that Cormoran is not as portrayed in the books but I am getting used to the actor now. I suppose he had to be a bit more attractive so that the ‘ will they won’t they?’ storyline is more plausible. The implausibility of Simone of the other parts of the plot have nt bothered me.

Nandalot Mon 07-Sept-20 23:52:31

‘ some’ and ‘haven’t’ of course. Thought “Shall I preview ? No I am sure it’s ok. “ I was wrong.

maddyone Tue 08-Sept-20 00:14:42

I’m watching, and I watched the last series too.

pollyperkins Tue 08-Sept-20 15:17:29

I’m told by a friend that the book is good and the story in the tv series has been changed somewhat. I’m enjoying it
Though as is DH. Haven’t read the book but did read all the others and will probably get Lethal White now. Might help me understand the plot better!

dahlia Wed 09-Sept-20 17:07:43

We loved the other programmes in this series, but Lethal White has just frustrated us so much, we decided not to watch last night's episode. The main characters are lovely, but all this "will she, won't she" stuff gets a bit tedious!

BlueBelle Wed 09-Sept-20 22:39:30

nandalot whose Simone ?
