I joined netflix to watch the queen and kept it through lockdown but I decided enough was enough, there has been nothing I wanted to watch on netflix for weeks. M and H signing up was the last straw, I have cancelled. It will most definitely not be missed

Nightsky2 You are wrong I am signed in with my daughters account and she lives 96 miles away!

Love Netflix but it needs a bit of homework, there is so much stuff. Some of my favs: Borderline, Bloodline, Top of the Lake, Marseille, The Durells and The Crown etc..
I won't watch H&M documentaries and to put it simply, what have they done to qualify to be talented producers... born Royal and married to a Royal??? I'll pass....

We're in the minority and only have Freeview. We don't watch a lot of tv and aren't particularly interested in films and serials although occasionally something - Young Wallender for example - catches my eye & I think perhaps we should get it. But we both read a lot & enjoy listening to music so you can't do everything can you?!

got much better things to do with my time than box watch so was certainly not getting value. I don`t need tv to entertain me but I do understand that there are people who need tv to be on.

That’s a little waspish.
Why so unkind?

Absolutely.
Virtue signalling!

I certainly don’t watch t.v. all day either.
We watch Netflix only at weekends when there is us lot on of interest. It’s our Saturday night treat. A good film or box set and a few glasses of wine.

suziewoozie Tue 08-Sept-20 15:30:43

Agree Summer whatever anyone does with their time is surely what they think is best use of it for them at that time? Whether I’d do it is not the point.

Greciangirl Tue 08-Sept-20 15:29:23

There are so many different categories on Netflix. Something for all tastes.
I’m so surprised craftyone, you cant find anything that interests you.

There are documentaries, films, comedy, dramas etc.

They are always bringing out new stuff.
Admittedly, you have to be a bit selective, but I can usually find something to pass the time.

Lancs I sometimes wonder if people who have the TV on constantly as you describe do it for the company? If I lived on my own, I’m not sure how my TV viewing might be different. But certainly, I enjoy many things I watch on ( or through) the TV. I watched Hope Gap the other night and that was very thought provoking - as is much good drama and good films.

Lancslass1 Tue 08-Sept-20 15:04:01

Susie Woozie, perhaps I could have put it better..

Some people have the television on constantly ,flicking through the Channels until they find something they don't particularly want to watch but for them it is better than nothing.

Why should you care who signed up to Netflix!?!? I’ve been on Netflix for two years as was absolutely peeeeed off with incessant football/sport/ football on tv...which my husband watches endlessly! Netflix has saved my sanity this passed 5 months ...it will be the last thing to go... even after my husband!! ..... who the hell are M&H ??

craftyone Tue 08-Sept-20 14:21:49

my style is like lancslass, I don`t watch during the day and rarely in the evening. I have been working outside today, from 8am to 2pm. I might go on a cycle ride, or nod off or do some spinning (wool) to music. We all have different lifestyles and energies

f77ms Tue 08-Sept-20 14:19:39

I enjoy netflix. so much to watch and on offer atm for £4 a month.

suziewoozie Tue 08-Sept-20 14:15:12

Whoever watches what they don’t want to watch ? ?

suziewoozie Tue 08-Sept-20 14:14:16

I never watch TV during the day. I read the paper, a book, listen to music or the radio. I watch C4 news every evening and then choose something from IPlayer ( or other catch ups) Netflix, Curzon Home Cinema.

QuickFire9 Tue 08-Sept-20 14:10:05

Maybe now I have a lot of time I could contact Netflix. Tell them I have no production experience at all and I can read some documentaries for them and sit back and let them pay me lots of money too!

Lancslass1 Tue 08-Sept-20 14:01:56

This is a serious question.
When do those of you with Netflix find the time to watch all that television?
I realise that we are unusual but the only time we watch television during the day is to watch either football or cricket.
We don't watch a great deal in the evening to be fair.
We only watch what we want to watch .
We used to watch the News at 1pm but no longer.
If I had to choose I would choose radio any day of the week over television.

I don't think we are unique but maybe we are.

Jane10 Tue 08-Sept-20 13:26:50

It's not all American or all films. A lot depends on how you search for something to watch.
I got NOW TV free with my BT package and enjoyed several series I'd missed first time round. It certainly is worth renegotiating TV and phone packages. Last time I got much more for a reduced premium.

watermeadow Tue 08-Sept-20 13:17:15

My daughters connected me to Netflix at the start of lockdown. I tried it but it seemed to be all American and all films so quickly gave it up.

GardenofEngland Tue 08-Sept-20 13:11:29

I'm not a fan of Harry and Meghan but they have paid the money back and are paying for themselves. If Harry has sold himself to the devil of fame and celebrity so be it but we moan when they are scroungers and moan now they are not.

icanhandthemback Tue 08-Sept-20 13:08:20

We have Freeview for most of our watching needs but my husband likes films so we have signed up for a couple of packages from NOWTV and Netflix. We have Amazon Prime but I think the video service is useless so rarely use it. We are going to cancel the NOWTV because we aren't that impressed with the film choice and Netflix is the better of the two.
I always use my computer to browse what I want to watch. I add it to "My List" and the awkward interface is no longer a problem when I watch it on the TV.
We were paying £100 a month with VirginMedia last year for tv, Broadband and Phone. We are now paying £38 for Broadband and Phone from Vodaphone, nothing for Freeview and £11ish for Netflix. Everybody should think about switching regularly to get the best deals. We stayed with Virgin for years just because of our email addresses but it cost us a fortune. No more!

GardenofEngland Tue 08-Sept-20 13:07:17

I like Netflix but do struggle to find British films but it does force you to watch films you would not have chosen some good some not so good. At the moment we are watching the series The Fall it is excellent as was the Durrells which we missed. When in Spain in the winter we use it almost everyday.

Dyffryn Tue 08-Sept-20 13:05:19

I have had Netflix for years, I can always find something good to watch. Rarely watch Channel 1-5 anymore.

Yearoff Tue 08-Sept-20 12:59:30

I absolutely love Netflix. Currently enthralled with Ozark. Don’t know when I last watched ordinary tv.

Phloembundle Tue 08-Sept-20 12:49:51

Horses for courses. I love Netflix and seldom watch anything else.
