Is Netflix worth paying for?

For us, just recently got it though my daughter had it upstairs for along time. For me just watching Prison Break has made it worth getting lol

We have Netflix and Amazon Prime. OH recently swapped us from Virgin media to btinternet and it’s dire, though he won’t admit it. Very limited as to how many programmes you can record and odd things like having to go right to the end of programmes before you can cancel.

First world problems but tedious. Keep getting messages flashing up saying we can’t do this or that. Not very relaxing and it seems it’s 18 months not 12 months.

Partly to do with our hope of moving to a ground floor flat and blocks of flats can limit choices or so I’m told.

I tend to read as I half watch tv though. Not much on terrestrial tv now except repeats, repeats and more repeats.

My DS has us attached to his Netflix account and I am also on his Amazon Prime account so I am not actually paying for either.

However, I have to say that Netflix is amazing. The drama is like the BBC used ot be for quality but without the irritating PC and wokey-cokey influence which makes so may Beeb programme unwatchable these days.

Netflix is great value and we have seen some excellent productions with and without subtitles. There is something for everyone and if you don't like what you have chosen, you can just move on. Wouldn't be without it.

Hi, we enjoy the world films too and don’t even notice the subtitles . I believe there is an option to “dub “ subtitled films but I quite like to hear the actors real voices even if it’s in a foreign language. I must say Walter Presents C4 or All4 Is superb for world drama snd often gives a great intro to a new series . Enjoy ?

I certainly agree that Netflix is worth it just for the Crown! I prefer terrestrial tv on the whole but Netflix does have an amazing selection. I would also like Britbox but it’s not available on my tv even though it’s only 3 years old.

There's the International section in the Films but I don't recognize any of them so I'll probably have a look at the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes for each one before watching. Am also going to watch Marriage Story tonight starring Adam Driver and Scarlet Johnansson.

I use a relatives Netflix account. Its great. I also have prime. Well worth the money for the music, podcasts, deliveries and the TV!!

I don’t watch much TV but with the winter coming on would like a few films on standby. So far have been very disappointed with Netflix. Only enjoyed the 2 Popes, and given up on a few that I’ve started.

I realise I am fussy, and prefer British and Foreign films, don’t mind subtitles. Not keen on much from Hollywood. Like dramas/suspense/mystery/intrigue type films. So far can only find a preponderance of TV box sets, but want films. Would not subscribe to Amazon, and am toying with Britbox, but suspect not much original but more old TV stuff.

Any suggestions please.

I agree that trying to find what you might like is somewhat tricky and things can be buried.

We're never going to like everything on a service but if you dig deep you may well find something worth watching

The Social Network is definitely worth a viewing as is My Octopus Teacher which I keep going on and on about!

I'm also enjoying Ratched. Not for the content particularly but the beautiful buildings and cinematography

5.99 gets you basic membership which is fine for me. 8.99 gets you a high-res picture and you can use it on two screens at the same time. 11.99 gets you an even higher-res picture and four screens at once.

5.99 should be enough for most people unless you want to make the most of a big flashy HD TV or there's others in the house who want to watch different things in another room, on the phone etc.

I do watch terrestrial tv plus Sky Arts and Sky Atlantic but nothing else from my Sky package. My granddaughter recently shared her Netflix subscription with me so I'm currently having a look at that, although there seems so much it's hard to find things I might like.
Watched The Social Dilemma, that series about Jeffrey Epstein and the other night started to watch Ratched as I'd loved the film One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest but quickly switched off when it turned out to be full of blood and gore! Nasty, nasty, nasty!
However, I've made a note of all your recommendations and hope to enjoy some, if not all of them.
BTW I binge watched Love Life on BBC Iplayer over the weekend. The only time I've done that since I binged on Normal People which is still my favourite series if all time.
Love Life is also a romantic thing following a girl's romances through teenage years until adulthood. Good but not as good as NP.

At first I found Netflix a bit overwhelming. There was such a lot of stuff and I didn't know where to begin. So I went off and made a list of things I wanted to watch and also got friends recommendations of series they were watching. Then I went back onto Netflix and had a good look round, making (yet another!) list - I like lists - of things that look interesting. Then I was good to go and its Great.

Netflix is very good value if you like TV series. Not so good for films although there's some good ones.

A variety of subscriptions is probably best but lots of subs can get expensive so choose the right ones for you. If you're going to have just one then make it Netflix.

Amazon Prime is better for films and especially good if you do a lot of Amazon shopping. I've got BFI player too because I'm addicted to old classic (and not-so classic) films.

We love it and hardly watch any standard TV programmes now except Gardeners World and All Creatures Great and Small(Neew format). We watch The News obviously and the weather, We can watch serials that don't involve violence and nasty stuff and we usually watch 2 episodes per night. We watched The Good Witch. Now we are watching The Gilmore Girls.

Not for me, could never find anything I wanted to watch so I cancelled. Think there is much less choice here than UK. Can't get Amazon either so I still use DVDs.

Found Netflix very good value. Also have Prime and BritBox

Can I just give a quick heads up for BBC IPlayer too. There are so many fantastic documentaries etc to watch. If you go to A-Z rather than the ones recommended, there are lots of brilliant programmes. And all included in your TV licence. I would say I love Netflix too. We've also got Disney Plus (grandchildren) and Amazon Prime so spoilt for choice.

We have it and love it. We have had NOWTv, Amazon Prime and have a free year of Apple TV and Netflix wins hands down.
Twirl49, you only have to sign in to your account through your browser to see if a things are a scam or not and not clicking on any links. Nowadays, there are so many scams, you'd never be able sign up to anything if you didn't do it for that reason alone. Obviously you might have had other reasons but I hear so many people worried about internet security that it thwarts their ability to take advantage of the good things it provides.

Absolutely. I pay around £8 a month and there is plenty of choice. We also share amazon Prime with my son. If we want to watch a film that needs to be paid for I just transfer the money to his bank account. There is an awful lot of stuff on iPlayer too and you can access Channel 4 and ITV watch again

Yes,I always find a decent film to watch. I wouldn't be without it.
