Well we traditionally have a thread - so I am starting one.

All mothers of contestants are strictly (!!!) barred!

I'm rooting for JJ Chalmers! (I hope that's his name)

I used to watch Come Dancing and loved those BIG dresses. Nearly every week the commentator would say “”?million sequins, all sewn on by her mother”. That used to make me visualise ladies all over the country sewing away night after night.

I remember the old Come Dancing show back n the 1960’s. So stiff and starchy compared to today’s Strictly show! Big frocks, cut glass English accents, very prim and proper. None of the raunchy Latin dances that we see now. Much prefer Strictly over the original Come Dancing.

I know the lovey-dovey-ness can be irritating, but one thing I have always liked about Strictly, as opposed to programmes like X Factor, is they all applaud, support and are polite to each other. I'm sure that there are tensions behind the scenes, but it is a good example of competing in a non-aggressive way.

Claudia's outfit was today described by Jan Moir as wearing "Liberace's crumpled old jimjams" grin I couldn't agree more.

Oopsminty Mon 19-Oct-20 10:40:34

Not a fan of anything Jan Moir says

merlotgran Mon 19-Oct-20 10:48:41

I agree with Jan Moir when she says Anton du Beke is routinely prescribed to older lady contestants as if he were a human oestrogen patch.

The last step in the four stages of womanhood; infancy, puberty, child bearing and Anton grin

Personally, I always tape it so that I can fast forward through
the chatty /nonesense. Makes it bearable. I've only heard of CQ and the bixer, don't know any of the others and I wouldn't dream of making a guess at the winner until we've seen them dancing!

So glad most of the audience will be missing. What a pain in the neck they were, especially when they started to clap in time with the music and when guest singers were performing. And then all those standing ovations ..........

Ellianne Sat 24-Oct-20 19:49:35

Blimey. Go Caroline go!

Sparklefizz Sat 24-Oct-20 19:54:01

Oh God, I hope CQ is not going to be so OTT all through the series, with crying and over-excitement. (Not a fan) Her dancing was ok though. smile

merlotgran Sat 24-Oct-20 19:54:27

Caroline is a much better dancer than I was expecting but Gawd help us if she gets through to the final rounds.

Turn the tap off, dearie, please?

Kandinsky Sat 24-Oct-20 19:57:28

Mmmm ......he’s nice ?

Sparklefizz Sat 24-Oct-20 19:58:04

Whereas Max !!!!!!! Yay !!!

Sparklefizz Sat 24-Oct-20 19:59:29

merlot CQ has done a few years of ballet.

Sparklefizz Sat 24-Oct-20 20:15:15

Is it just me or did Jacqui not actually do many dancing steps?

Ellianne Sat 24-Oct-20 20:15:59

I don't think she'll be in for very long.

Calendargirl Sat 24-Oct-20 20:18:38

Anton actually looks younger with his grey hair.

seacliff Sat 24-Oct-20 20:23:08

I think Anton is looking great with the grey, and very trim.

Sparklefizz Sat 24-Oct-20 20:26:33

JJ was great, wasn't he?

Ellianne Sat 24-Oct-20 20:27:46

Yes, and what a cute daughter he has.

Sparklefizz Sat 24-Oct-20 20:31:25

Yes, sweet.
Maisie is very wiggly.

Violettham Sat 24-Oct-20 20:39:46

Wish they would go back to the original formula just dancing.

merlotgran Sat 24-Oct-20 20:47:48

I don't think the singing is as good this year.

Sparklefizz Sat 24-Oct-20 20:49:40

You're right! The singers haven't been individually introduced so maybe they are not the same ones in this series.

Calendargirl Sat 24-Oct-20 20:50:19

I know it must be so difficult, but it all seems a bit forced and rather flat somehow.

Don’t miss Bruno’s histrionics.
