Master and Commander
Pulp Fiction
Gladiator
Dracula (with Gary Oldman)
Batman Trilogy - directed by Christopher Nolan (cheating I know...)

I hardly ever watch films, but I do like Brief Encounter and The Railway Children. The Queen is quite good, too. I quite like The Sound of Music. I certainly can’t think of ten.

Paperbackwriter

I do't really have favourites as such, probably because once I've seen them I don't really choose to see them again. But I loved Help!, The Knack, A Taste of Honey, Le Weekend, and (because of a lifetime crush on Marianne Faithfull, the atrocious but somehow compelling Girl on a Motorcycle.

The one I DO watch most Christmases is The Great Escape. One day Steve will make it over that wire..

Apart from Last of the Mohicans I’ve found that the more I love a film the less likely I am to watch it again. I’ll watch a dvd several times if I’ve enjoyed the film but think I’ve missed something important. I’ve never rewatched Pans Labyrinth even though I still think it’s one of the best films I’ve ever seen.

Some Like It Hot
Withnail And I
The Big Lebowski
Midnight Cowboy
Butch Cassidy
The Philadelphia Story
Bringing Up Baby

Little Women (with Winona Ryder)
Love And Death (Woody Allen)
Anything with Steve McQueen!

Love lots of your choices GN’s .. but would add Donovan’s Reef and the Quiet Man....merry Christmas and a safe healthy new year ?

Namsnanny Tue 22-Dec-20 13:57:40

My kind of thread, but too hard to make a choice!
Here goes,

Notes on a Scandal
(I was totally absorbed from beginning to end)
The Talented Mr Ripley
(Captivated by narcissistic Greenleaf and slow decent into psychopathy of Ripley)
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
(stands up well against the original tv series. Loved every single actor in it. Casting did a wonderful job)
The Last of the Mohicans
(agree wholeheartedly with Maybee)

Phew, I'll have to have a lie down after that!
Come back with more latertchsmile

Notright Tue 22-Dec-20 13:52:34

I'm not going to do the list, too many are equal but Gone with the Wind has to be my all time favourite.

It is for sale on DVD but can't be played on our DVD players. It must be a multi regional player.
