Good heavens no - why on earth would it be?
A very thought provoking film though which made a deep impression me. So very many interpretations of the concept of a parasite.

Is the movie (Parasite) very violent or gory? I was going to watch it but read something that suggested it might be.

It is kind of violent and creepy but when you are watching this movie you don't feel the violence. It starts out as a comedy and evolves into an unpredictable drama.
I enjoyed watching it because the movie is very unusual. I think it was the best movie that I watched in a couple of years.

It must have been a good film though to keep my concentration wrt subtitles

Omg we watched this Saturday night and I thought it was a comedy, well I suppose it is for much of the film but how bloody sinister it turns!!! I keep having dreams about it grin

Thank you, Pittcity I avoid both Coen brother and Tarantino movies. Don't deal well with scenes containing torture, gore, excessive violence, etc. Woodchipper scene in Fargo: No Game of Thrones' bloody fights: No Alien/Freddie/Jason/Hannibal Lecter: Heck No OK with violence if it's part of a story but only if it's not too graphic. grin

There is blood and violence gmarie but it is not excessive. More Coen brothers than Tarantino.

I haven’t got Netflix Jane. I haven’t got anything like that. Pre COVID I used to go to my daughters to watch Stranger Thing, Game of Thrones etc

We watched this a couple of nights ago. It was brilliant, funny and very original. Definitely deserved the awards.

I thought Parasite was very good, it reminded me of a Coen Brothers film. Roma is currently on Netflix MayBee70.

Snowpiercer was the other film.

We saw Parasite at the cinema but where slightly underwhelmed by it. I think it was, as most films are, a bit too long. Having said that I think I’d like to rewatch it in the comfort of my own home. The director made another film that I’d like to see. It was on Film 4 (I think) but I missed it. When I see an interesting film I like to watch the directors back catalogue. I did that after seeing Pans Labyrinth years ago. I was really annoyed when Roma won best film as it only had limited cinema release and a dvd wasn’t available. Even now I think you can only buy it via Amazon. I think award winning films should be available to everyone.

I wanted to see Parasite when it won all the Oscars, but alas the lockdown came before that opportunity presented itself. However, it's now on Prime so will look forward to watching it on the telly. 1917, a wonderful film, was the last one we saw at the cinema. Once Upon A Time in Hollywood also very good.

Pittcity I loved The Irishman, thought it deserved all the accolades heaped on it. Word of warning to anyone who does fancy it, it's very long I think we watched it over several evenings.

I loved Parasite, 1917 and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. JoJo Rabbit was awful and don't fancy watching The Irishman.

Thanks for mentioning this Hejira. I wasn’t able to get to see it in the cinema so I’m really looking forward now to catching it on Prime!

vegansrock Fri 25-Dec-20 05:49:52

yes it’s on Prime. Enjoyed it.

Parasite made Academy Award history this year as the first foreign language film to win best picture. It beat 1917, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Jojo Rabbit and The Irishman. It is very, very good indeed. I watched it today on DVD but believe it's also streaming on Amazon Prime. Anyone else seen it?
