Is anyone else watching it? Looks interesting.

Like many others on here we watched it to the last episode but were disappointed and wouldn’t watch another series. The characters were all just a bit odd and not quite believable - her husbands sister, her parents etc. All in all a bit of a dud series.

My daughter and I kept watching thinking surely it will get better. I don’t think it ever did and I thought how she treated her daughter was appalling . It’s all me me me . I think there will be another series with that ending but I don’t think I’ll be watching it!

Watched two episodes and had had enough not for me, Keeley hawes in to Olivia much better.

I really enjoyed Home Fires and was upset when it just stopped. I wanted to know if anyone survived the crash and if that poor woman ever saw her Polish boyfriend again. The awful Alice wasn't in the same class at all. I didn't even realise I was watching the final episode because nothing was resolved at all.

Calendargirl Tue 23-Feb-21 10:56:16

Yes, ‘Home Fires’ was definitely one they should have kept going.

I also liked ‘Indian Summer’, but it did badly in the ratings, and was dumped unceremoniously.

Also I enjoyed ‘Scarborough’, also dropped.

Yet they let Marcella have several series, plus the dire ‘Hold The Sunset’, which I have moaned about before.

I think it depends how much clout certain actors and their agents have.

There were two series of 'Home Fires' and I loved them. It had a good storyline and characters, the sets and costumes were great. I engaged with the characters and cared about them. Then at the end of the second series an airplane crashed into a house and that was where it ended. They left us on a cliff edge and decided not to make another series! I was so disappointed especially as it hadn't had a proper ending. If only that had carried on and not this one.

suziewoozie Tue 23-Feb-21 10:31:54

Me too. Some series as they come to an end you find you’ve really engaged with the characters, care what happens to them and can’t wait for the next series ( I feel like this about Call My Agent) and then series like this where at the end you’ve had more than enough of them. I think I’m enjoying dramas now with beginnings middles and ends and about 4-6 episodes long. Just really enjoyed Quicksand in this category.

Add me to the list of those who disliked it but watched it, and who have no intention of watching a second series. I wish I'd dropped it after the first episode. Keeley Hawes character was so annoying, I wanted to sympathise with her but couldn't. I just felt sorry for the others having to put up with her. And finally, attempting to have a baby in the middle of all the chaos was the final straw. If I watch any more I will want to slap her. Thank goodness the first series is over and I can put it behind me.

BigBertha1 Tue 23-Feb-21 09:45:09

Sadly that's what it looks like.

Greyduster Tue 23-Feb-21 09:15:04

Please, Lord, not another series!!

Floradora9 Mon 22-Feb-21 21:53:23

The end a great let down there must be another series to follow .

gillgran Mon 22-Feb-21 11:49:56

Oh dear, I watched it from the beginning. Hoping it would get better......
The final one, last night, I thought would prove that I had been right to persevere! It just threw up more questions.
Will another series be better? I need all those ends tying up.!!

Cabbie21 Mon 22-Feb-21 09:37:06

We stuck with it but thought it ridiculous. So glad to see this was the last episode but then we realised there will inevitably be a second series. Must make sure we don’t waste our time watching it.

Puzzler61 Mon 22-Feb-21 09:28:35

We stuck with it though heavens knows why.
Dire.
Keeley (or her agent) did not choose well accepting that part for her IMHO.

Pittcity Mon 22-Feb-21 09:07:55

I gave up half way through and have found plenty of other things to watch. Keeley seems to be in most things though!!

grandmajet Mon 22-Feb-21 08:29:38

Yesterday I thought phew, last Finding Alice tonight. I was in the strange position of wanting to know what happened and yet not really enjoying it. The only character I cared about was the poor daughter - and what was John Stape doing there! Does Fizz know?
Now it seems there will be a series 2. Please let me find the strength not to start watching it.

LauraNorder Mon 22-Feb-21 04:00:55

It doesn’t do anything for me. Usually a fan of black humour but not a fan of no humour. It just all seems rather silly and a waste of some good actors.
Also agree with those who say we are overloaded with the same faces, chefs doing quiz programmes, quiz hosts doing travel programmes, news presenters on adverts. Time to bring out some new talent and give the youngsters a chance.

mokryna Sun 21-Feb-21 23:57:42

Don’t forget Deedaa his other children with his business partner. There will be a least two more series to sort all that out if not more. I feel dissatisfied with the cliff hanger ending of this series.

Deedaa Sun 21-Feb-21 23:44:41

Still persevering with Alice. I've decided the problem is far too many story lines. There's Why did Harry fall down stairs? How is Charlotte coping? Why have his parents got the house? What is his business partner up to? What is his sneaky son up to? What does she think she's doing trying to have Harry's baby at this point? Plus all the sub plots, her parents, Harry's sister, the weird bereavement group. Each episode just bounces around from one to another without getting anywhere. Some drastic pruning might have produced a gripping drama.

I am thoroughly enjoying it.
Can't imagine how it will end, not sure that it will, properly, but surreal, utterly unrealistic, subtle acting and, I really believe, an exploration of grief.

Katie59 Mon 08-Feb-21 16:06:56

A pretty good example of how NOT to run your life, not only her partner not bothering with the future but the decisions that Alice herself is making.

A “ Tour de Force” on how to get it wrong - to the point of farce

Parsley3 Mon 08-Feb-21 15:34:49

I have watched it and tried but failed to like it. Ridiculous story line, wooden acting (Joanna Lumley) and Keeley Hawes grinning like a demented Cheshire Cat. I agree with the comments above about how unrealistic the situations are. I will stick with Spiral and The Bay.

Deedaa Mon 08-Feb-21 13:26:23

Ok still sticking with it. It's so unrealistic though, the buyers she turned the hose on would have gone straight to the police to have her charged with assault. And how does a woman in 2021 not know that an unmarried partner of a man who dies intestate is likely to lose everything?
