Am I the only one who was sorry to see the end of STAGED with Michael Sheen and David Tennant. Its the only thing that has been making me laugh lately. Love to see them come back in a full comedy drama they are both so funny. Did anyone else enjoy it as much as I did?

I enjoyed the first series, but found the second one a bit ‘forced’ if I’m honest.

Think it would have been better left after the first one.

A bit ‘lovey’ all round.

We watched both series and loved it. I hope it comes back.

lemongrove Fri 29-Jan-21 17:52:09

I agree Calendargirl in fact have stopped watching.
The first series was good.

It's the one thing that has had me laughing out loud. I could watch Michael and David for ever.

First series had the edge for me because of its uniqueness. Still enjoyed the second series.

Me too Deedaa. Enjoyed them in Good Omens.

Agree the first series was better. Back then we were all wanting contact with our true friends and this program tugged at that. I loved it.

Blossoming Fri 29-Jan-21 18:41:53

They are very funny together, I loved Good Omens.

I loved it. Very imaginative to make something so clever that reflected the situation we all find ourselves in.

Treebee Fri 29-Jan-21 19:15:00

Loved it, it made me laugh, which is always good. Loved the inclusion of their wives. DT is v attractive, which helps.

I loved the first series, I’ve only seen one of the second but it didn’t seem as funny, I will give it another try.

I'm another who enjoyed the first series but gave up on the second one.

I watched most of the first series then got a bit annoyed with it and haven't bothered with the second. With so many people especially young theatre professionals out of work and unable to pursue their careers it seemed to me to be a bit of self indulgent narcism aimed giving 2 actors, their families and lots of well established people some financial rewards.

Jane10 Sat 30-Jan-21 11:10:36

I loved it. Their relationship was hilarious. The second series confused me a bit but I didn't really mind. It was just good entertainment. Probably a lot of work to pull it together and make it seem so casual.

trisher Sat 30-Jan-21 11:24:16

I didn't think it was in the least bit 'casual" I thought the title (meant in an entirely a different way) was unintentionally appropriate to the whole thing.

I loved both series, obviously the first one had the most novelty value as we're more used to seeing programmes featuring screens now.
Loved the huge contrast between the meetings of the men and the ones between the women. Loved the calibre of the cameos that appeared and the absurdity of Michael Sheen & David Tennant trying to 'give notes' to other actors playing MS & DT! Loved the casual nods to the situations people have found themselves in this past year like trying to find a quiet place in a busy house for a call - my poor DD & SiL! And even we found ourselves attending a Zoom wedding!
My favourite episode still remains the one from Series 1 with Judy Dench, just brilliant!

Jane10 Sat 30-Jan-21 12:10:11

Trisher by 'casual' I meant it seemed a very natural conversation on zoom. This gave a sort of 'home made' feel to it. Obviously, judging by the reams of credits at the end it was anything but!

Chestnut Sat 30-Jan-21 12:21:04

Enjoyed the novelty of the first series but gave up on the second series as I was bored with all the naval-gazing. I realise the bad language was flagged up, but it went too far. Whoopi Goldberg used the mother**** word which in my book is the worst word ever and just not acceptable.

trisher Sat 30-Jan-21 12:59:05

Jane10 I just thought David Tennant's "pretending to be in hiding-perpetually harassed" character was totally unbelievable. I fell for it for the first few episodes and then it was just too much. Michael Sheen was slightly more believable but by the end of series one I had ceased to think it was anything except a really badly done performance. I'm obviously the exception in this as most people seem to think they were hilarious. There were occasional moments of comedy- mostly lovey jokes- but after the novelty wore off I found it boring.

PaperMonster Sat 30-Jan-21 21:41:43

I absolutely loved both series! Had me howling with laughter!!

LullyDully Sun 31-Jan-21 09:01:04

I have loved it, a clever idea but think it's form only suits lockdown. They will need to stop rather than spoil a good thing. I find it funny but DH can't stand David T.
