Did anyone see the first of the 4 episodes last night? I’ll stick with it, but I’m sure the main character wouldn’t get a job in a school quite so easily! I haven’t seen any spoilers, so waiting to see if she’s right or mistaken.
I must say I hardly recognized Jill Halfpenny - a while since she’s been in tv. She voices both Sky and Argos ads in her usual NE accent, but has dropped it for this role.

Brilliant summary, Calendargirl.

Shandy57 Wed 03-Feb-21 22:00:29

I take it back!

GardenerGran Wed 03-Feb-21 22:01:02

It’s a ridiculous load of tosh, but I’m still going to watch the last episode!

Calendargirl Wed 03-Feb-21 22:03:59

Oh, and still one episode to go!

Here was me thinking the brother was dodgy, and somehow involved in the original disappearance.

Devorgilla Wed 03-Feb-21 22:10:03

Anyone else wondering if the brother organised the DNA in her favour with that last phone call?

GrannyRose15 Wed 03-Feb-21 22:46:09

Could go any way. Her ex, his wife, her brother, Daniel's father, and what about his wife - is she buried under one of his developments? Perhaps the mysterious grandfather (the one whose funeral they've just been to) had something to do with it.
Can't wait for the denouement even though I agree the whole story is incredible.

Calendargirl Thu 04-Feb-21 07:13:49

Yes, the mother and brother seem in cahoots about something. And she hated her dad.
Hadn’t thought about the brother fiddling the DNA.

All codswallop of course, but will stick with it till the bitter end.

LullyDully Thu 04-Feb-21 08:34:19

Definitely codswallop but have to see why I wasted 4 hours and why she is so driven.

Seems to me the female senior member of staff is the only sensible person around. She would be needed with such a waste of space Head. Fancy he is principal of such a huge secondary school, that's a mystery in itself.

Kate1949 Thu 04-Feb-21 10:00:59

It's quite ridiculous but now I have to know what happens. Apparently it's written by Tim Dynevor who is Sally from Coronation Street's husband. Maybe he's been watching too many soaps!

Lillie Thu 04-Feb-21 10:16:29

I agree the brother and the grandma have previous. There was that strange conversation they had on the sofa. Something about how the son had only get where was because of what they did? And how they owed Jodie? They always seem to be hanging around with Jodie's ex and his new family too.
And why did the current not real father phone up someone to get him a criminal lawyer?
Im wasting too much time on this one.

Calendargirl Thu 04-Feb-21 12:25:12

Yes, Kate1949 I saw that Tim Dynevor had written it. Thought he must be some relation to Sally from Corrie.

If he gets his teeth stuck into writing Corrie episodes, we will be in for some even sillier storylines than what there is on at the moment.

Kate1949 Thu 04-Feb-21 12:28:13

I can see that happening Calendargirl!

trisher Thu 04-Feb-21 12:33:40

I agree such tosh. You have to watch to see how much more ridiculous things get. Her admonishing the people smugglers/ passport forgers was hilarious. She'd probably have finished up in a river.

Calendargirl Thu 04-Feb-21 12:41:20

The friend who she is in business with, the gardener, I’m sure she was in another (equally daft) drama starring Sheridan Smith. It was a very similar role, she was taken advantage of and lost money to the so-called best friend and work colleague, they were cleaners.

She needs to hold out for less dogsbody roles.

Maggiemaybe Thu 04-Feb-21 12:42:48

What it is with batty women, she would get on well with Alice!

Oh, she would, LullyDully. I’m starting to think I must be batty myself for wasting time on both of them!

GillT57 Thu 04-Feb-21 13:39:51

Tosh, but enjoyable tosh. I agree there is some background to the Mother and Brother; that comment about 'you owe her' plus there is an undercurrent between Jodie and her Mother, you would expect there to have been more empathy and kindness towards someone who had lost their child, even if they were all grieving too. I don't believe that a child of 4 would accept 'new parents', crikey children start school at that age. Will watch it tonight to see what happens.

Calendargirl Thu 04-Feb-21 22:01:39

Oh well, now we know!

Far fetched or what?

Hope Daniel’s dad got his car back from the passport forgers.

grumppa Thu 04-Feb-21 22:04:36

Beyond far-fetched. Each episode was more ludicrous than the one before.

silverlining48 Thu 04-Feb-21 22:13:44

well thank goodness thats over. I missed one episode and sorry i didn't miss the rest.

Lillie Thu 04-Feb-21 22:18:28

Don't worry Calendargirl, Daniel's dad can have Jodie's bother's car!
If Daniel wasn't disturbed before, he will be now.

I know it was far fetched, but I felt a bit of sadness at the end.

GrannyRose15 Thu 04-Feb-21 22:25:09

Total tosh. Pity though cos it could have made a good story. There's still hope though that Jodie and Mark get together and they all live happily ever after.

Well more ridiculous things have happened.

BlueBelle Thu 04-Feb-21 22:28:41

Well it was very far fetched but I somehow enjoyed it

grandmajet Thu 04-Feb-21 22:30:06

Yes, utter drivel. But I was glued to it for four nights! Grannyrose, I hope you’re right. Happy family time now.

trisher Thu 04-Feb-21 22:32:00

I thought the bit when he was swimming after the boat was the funniest thing I'd seen in a long time! I don't think it was meant to be, but really! What do you do when you want to get away? take a boat out of course! grin

Gwyneth Thu 04-Feb-21 22:42:17

I missed the last episode and cannot watch it on itv hub so the million dollar question was Daniel her lost son or not?
