Just watched first episode.

Looks promising.

Guessed the necklace would feature prominently in the storyline.

Yes, the end was completely unexpected and shocking!

Iam64 Mon 01-Mar-21 13:31:14

?. Good point trisher -

Complette shock over the ending. Mind I did think shooting someone who was on oxygen seemsd a bit OTT easier ways to do it!

Iam64 Mon 01-Mar-21 13:20:52

The dead priest is the doctor’s father.
I was shocked the Nesbit character didn’t involve the police when his daughter was kidnapped/returned.
I was even more shocked by the final scene.
Is his wife alive?
They need AC12 ?

I actually started to watch McDonald and Dodds. Unbelievably awful. Switched to BBC.

maddyone Mon 01-Mar-21 13:09:23

Has there been a series before? I found it a difficult to get into, but managed to tune in by about the middle of the programme. We’ll carry on watching I think.

Not unknown for priests to father children Calendargirl.

Bent coppers! Call in Ted Hastings!

Can't wait for the next episode.

Calendargirl Mon 01-Mar-21 11:07:28

I thought Goliath could be Lorcan Cranitch’s character, but a bit obvious.

I don’t like James Nesbitt so won’t be sorry if he turns out to be the baddie. Even if he isn’t though, surely he shouldn’t just be shooting people?

And how could the doctor’s dad be the other dead one? I thought he was a priest?

Smileless2012 Mon 01-Mar-21 11:02:55

Nor me Nana3 and it's left me rather confused confused.

Alioop Mon 01-Mar-21 11:00:01

I'm enjoying it and my friends and I are working out where they have been filming it coming from N.Ireland. Oh and I have the accent Kircubbinn2000. Proud of it!

henetha Mon 01-Mar-21 10:48:29

I didn't expect that!!!

Shandy57 Mon 01-Mar-21 10:35:33

I was shocked too! So is he Goliath? Or protecting Twomey?

Greyduster Mon 01-Mar-21 10:27:55

Me neither!

Nana3 Mon 01-Mar-21 01:02:20

Well, didn't see tonight's ending coming!!
Should be last night's as it's 1 am, sorry.

Yes it's a nuisance that ITV hub doesn't do subtitles. I have just purchased a new little gadget, called a Handy Wireless Speaker, which you connect up to the TV and it enhances the sound, especially recommended for clarifying speech. It cost about £145 but I am delighted with it. I hope not to need subtitles so much now. (Always said it was the TV's or the actors' fault, not mine, if I couldn't make them out!)

TerriBull Tue 23-Feb-21 17:37:45

J enjoyed the first episode will definitely continue watching There are times when I can't understand the accent, not so much with James Nesbit, he's quite prolific so I'm probably attuned to his.

Greyduster Tue 23-Feb-21 16:14:21

Thank you, Grannyticktock; we managed to do it but it was like pulling teeth. Unfortunately, subtitles doesn’t work on ITV Hub. So much for super smart TV sets!

GillT57 Tue 23-Feb-21 15:25:08

I think it looks promising so far, and Jed Mercurio can usually be relied upon to write a decent drama.

grannyticktock Tue 23-Feb-21 15:00:38

Greyduster, if you mean. iPlayer, I can get subtitles on this by using the Add Subtitles button on my TV remote. It doesn't work on prerecorded programmes or on ITV hub, but it does on iPlayer (on my system, anyway).

Greyduster Tue 23-Feb-21 09:22:28

We enjoyed it. Got it on catch up, as DH forgot to tape it, so no subtitles, which would have helped, though I’m pretty good with accents. I like James Nesbitt, so am looking forward to the rest.

Lillie Mon 22-Feb-21 19:15:19

Didn't Jed Mercurio write The Bodyguard too Boz, which was excellent.

fevertree Mon 22-Feb-21 18:53:24

Hi JaxJacky that is kind of you, thank you. I have since Googled and found a Radio Times recap and explanations of various theories grin

Jane43 Mon 22-Feb-21 11:50:52

I fell asleep half way through but it seemed to pick up at the end so I will stick with it.
