Good to see the new series of this. Looks promising.

Nicola Walker looking as miserable as ever, but I don’t suppose she had a lot to look happy about really.

Several back stories going on behind the obvious suspects.

Confess to never having watched 'Unforgotton' / 'Line of Duty'. Prefer reruns of 'Vera' /Law& Order UK.

I hope they promote him. Don’t want him to have another boss.

kircubbin2000 Tue 30-Mar-21 12:14:52

I wonder who his new partner will be . Who would be good?

Blinko Tue 30-Mar-21 12:06:03

This is the first time I've watched this and I've loved it from start to finish. Very sad, moving and somehow complete. I'll be catching up with the earlier incarnations on the itv hub.

Last night's programme in particular was so much better than the final part of The Bay, for example, which I thought was weak.

Yippee! Just watched this final episode so glad to hear there will be another series.

ITV have announced that there will be a 5th series with Sunny and a new partner.

Kate1949 Tue 30-Mar-21 09:59:13

Sanjeev posted on Twitter that this episode was the last in 'this series'. I wonder if that means there will be more?

Polarbear2 Tue 30-Mar-21 09:45:04

sarnia I thought at some point Ram said he was a disappointment to his father because he didn’t think being a policeman was a suitable job??

trisher Tue 30-Mar-21 09:37:11

A really sad ending. I thought Sanjeev Bhaskar as Sunny was excellent and he does deserve to have some sort of spin off series if Unforgotten doesn't continue.

Atqui Tue 30-Mar-21 09:30:31

So sad. I still can’t forget how her father must have felt having spoken so harshly to her the last time he saw her.
I did feel sympathy for Dean , brought up in a violent home and trying to escape his past. Though dealing with drugs not a good way to do that .

I have really enjoyed this series and last nights final episode was a shock.
Sunnis speech at the end was very moving, as was Cass’ phone message to her father. I did think he would have felt guilty about not responding to her messages, but what she said would have helped him.
The good thing about Unforgotten for me is that I was able to keep up with the story week by week, because that’s not always the case with other dramas which can often confuse. Well they can confuse me. grin

Calendargirl Tue 30-Mar-21 09:19:34

Although I loved the series, the time to stop is now. It wouldn’t be the same with other characters.

The Cassie/Sunny relationship worked so well because they really liked, respected and cared for each other, without it resorting to bedroom scenes which is what so often happens.

True colleagues and friends, but with their own personal lives and problems.

I hope iris the end of Unforgotten. A great series, shocking and tragic ending. Best for the writers to get busy on something new (still crime/police team based please)

TerriBull Tue 30-Mar-21 09:00:09

I love this series, particularly the way the back stories slowly unfolded. Such a sad ending, I did shed a tear sad I suppose that's it now! unless Sunny takes over the lead, but as others have said, the pairing was such a good one.

sodapop Tue 30-Mar-21 08:55:09

I think that may be the end of Unforgotten, I read that would be the last series.
Says a lot for the acting and writing that we were all so invested in the story.

H1954 Tue 30-Mar-21 08:43:29

Yes, very sad ending. I'm now wondering if a new series would feature Sunni and one of the rest of the team perhaps. They all 'shone' in their own way this series and maybe we've unknowingly had an insight on what's to come?
We still don't know why Ram had such a fractious relationship with his own father either.

Sara1954 Tue 30-Mar-21 08:31:32

I can’t imagine Sunny with anyone else as a partner.
I agree with Iam64 it really was a brilliant partnership, and they were nice to each other, Sunny was so calm and polite, with even the most vile suspects.

Iam64 Tue 30-Mar-21 08:24:41

Brilliant series. The relationship between Cassie and Sonny was one of the best cop show duos ever.
I wasn’t expecting the ending, made me weep

Sarnia Tue 30-Mar-21 08:03:30

Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhaskar made a compelling partnership. I wonder if there will be any future Unforgotten series with a different partner for Sunny? It really showed how life can be turned upside down so quickly and how it affects so many lives. As for the 4 suspects. I found them all equally unpleasant with murky pasts. We found out about the skeleton's in Fiona's closet but we were left wondering why Ram was hated by his father. When Liz gets jailed for her part in Matthew Walsh's murder, some nursing home is going to get the joy of her mother. Wonderful series with a very sad ending I did not expect.

Calendargirl Tue 30-Mar-21 08:00:49

Cocaine smuggling-money I would think.

Dean had a good lifestyle and did lots of fund raising for disabled son. And Ram was a flash character, probably wanting to prove to his family how successful he was.

Iam64 Tue 30-Mar-21 08:00:16

Polarbear2- greed

Polarbear2 Tue 30-Mar-21 07:48:37

Question _ great series but didn’t get why they got into cocaine smuggling?? Why did they do that when they were both trying to be good people???

Ellianne Tue 30-Mar-21 07:48:03

Yes I was disappointed grumpy mother Sheila didn't come back into it!

Calendargirl Tue 30-Mar-21 07:30:44

I thought the nephew turning up was another way of showing how families can re-unite.

The uncle Clive used to send nephew Jerome, I think his name was, Christmas cards, he obviously felt so guilty he had never looked for his brother Matthew when he was chased that night, he never went to help him.

The nephew had a poor relationship with his dad, and after Cassie/Sunny interviewed him after his body was found, think it made him re think about his estranged family. He had a wife, baby and steady job, so had made a better life for himself despite a rough start.

On another note, we never saw any more of Sheila Hancock’s harridan of a mother!

Eloethan Tue 30-Mar-21 01:16:38

I thought this was the best series of Unforgotten. Very sad ending but better to end on a high. So many series don't know when to stop.

I got confused about nephew turning up as well - but then I often get confused about dramas I see on the TV!
