I really enjoyed this series last year. Hugely nostalgic and very timely.

Does anyone know if there will be any further series? I presume the plan had been to film one a year with the actors aging in line with the characters, but social distancing has probably put paid to that idea.
Would love to see another series though. I imagine a large portion of their audience were adults who remember the books from childhood and whose children and grandchildren are now enjoying themsmile

Is this based on the Enid Blyton books? Never saw the series, but loved the books.

From CBBC

WILL THERE BE A SEASON 2 OF MALORY TOWERS?
As of yet, there is no news of Malory Towers being renewed for season 2.
The series is based on the book series of the same name by the beloved English children’s author Enid Blyton. She wrote novels from 1946 to 1951.

However, way down the line in 2009, Pamela Cox penned six sequel books which centred on Felicity Rivers, June Johns and Susan Blake. With this in mind, it’s likely that we could see more episodes surface, depending on the popularity it achieves in the next month or so courtesy of streaming and so forth.

The TV series introduced and established so many great characters, and there’s certainly potential to go back to them.

Oh please let’s have more!
My granddaughter and I binge watched it, pure nostalgia for me, and she loved it too

Yes some of the books later in the series were even better, introducing characters such as Belinda, Bill and Daphne and showing Gwendoline constantly trying to suck up to her new 'best ftiend'. Hopefully they will make some new episodes.

I had no idea this was on ! Loved the books. I fancied boarding school - thought you could just go if there was one handy. We were a working class family from Lanarkshire who just got by on my Dad's pay as an unskilled ( but hard working ) man. Don't think I was a Malory Towers kind of girl ! Looking back, I do wonder how at the age of about 12 I could have been so naive !!

I think we were all the same. Just assumed boarding school was there if you fancied it.

And od course we all assumed we'd be part of Darrell and Alicia's cool gang smilesmile

Wish I'd known about it too. I used to love those books back in the day. Is it on the iplayer?

It was lovely, and extra lovely to watch it all with one of my granddaughters.
I was like you grandmajean, I was a council estate girl, with aspirations to attend an elite boarding school, I think I drove my parents mad keeping on to go away to school.

I didn't know this series had been made, but just checked and it is on iPlayer, so I will check it out.

I used to devour the books as a child. Years later I heard the name 'Gladys' pronounced and realised that it wasn't pronounced 'Glay-dees'!

I was an avid Blyton fan but for some reason never read the Malory Towers books.
But I did read 2 other series about boarding schools - the St' Clare books and The Naughtiest Girl in the School. Like others I was always pestering my parents to go to a boarding school.

I googled the blurb about this series as I loved the books. However, I found that it was a sort of 'woke' reimagining of the stories with all sorts of diversities built in. Fair enough for modern day stories which reflect life today but not right for one's written in 1946.

Ones

I was a bit wary at first as well Aveline, but they really do stick to the spirit of the books.
